For my 300th post I want it to be something special. So here I go:

GET CHECKED!

It doesn't matter if it is a mammogram, colonoscopy, pap smear, hernia, prostate, aches and pains. Hell, if you just wake up and feel BLAH, get checked! If you think you are going to be embarrassed, or bashful, there will be plenty of time for that after the tests! Wouldn't you rather be embarrassed for a few minutes but know the outcome of your tests rather than not know if something is seriously wrong with you?

You owe it to yourselves! And if you don't care about yourself, think of your loved ones. Do it for me! Because I care! Trust me, you mean a lot more to the people around you than you think! The world is a better place with you in it! And I want all of you to stick around long enough to show me how great you guys all play guitar, bass, keyboards, whatever!

And if you stick around this Earth a really really long time, you might hear me play decently! :D

Please. Seriously. Get checked.

Remember to keep Chet and Mark Feathers in your prayers as well as Miami Mike! Hang in there boys! We love ya!

Thus endeth the sermon.

Keep the faith!

Get a complete physical once a year! And don't forget to get your eye, ear, and dental exams yearly too!

Possibly. The first thing I thought of when I saw your post was this cut away they did joking about a toilet seat giving someone herpes. The show is funny, but at times tries too hard to push the comedic envelope and as a result is just plain tasteless.

On the importance of getting checked:

My mother had some unusual bleeding. A visit to the gyn and a pap smear said it was nothing. Bleeding continued but mom believed what she was told. The pap was a false negative. She died 6 months later.

Dad had flu like symptoms for two months. His doc treated an upper respiratory infection. He died from lung cancer 8 months later.

2 weeks after dad died I had what I knew was a kidney stone. The pain on this one was pretty bad and I went to the ER in the middle of night for pain relief. A CAT scan showed that besides the kidney stone, I had kidney cancer. I lived. Had I simply waited for the stone to pass I'd have died.

Bottom line. Get checked. Persistant symptoms? Get checked. Doc says it's nothing but it won't go away? GET CHECKED!

I passed a kidney stone a few years back. That was the single most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life. I ended up at the emergency room as well where they had to give me a nice morphine cocktail before I could be scanned. Fortunately, the kidney stone was all they found.

Yeah man! Those things are horribly painful.
