Yeah. But. think of it this way: If a string broke you could rob one from the other neck. Might sound weird, but it might look good.

Why not just play the other neck with all strings intact? Then yell for a Roadie. Image

Good idea. Never thought of that. On the other hand, just like the string, the Roadie might be on a break too.

I've actually picked up a double deck guitar, before. It was an Ovation acoustic 6/12 string combo. I think the only time I've ever seen any sort of double neck in a store in person. It was a little strange, but not unwieldy. It was also an Ovation acoustic, not some Gibson electric, so I'm sure the weight was probably half of that one.

I changed out the Black Moto PG on the Am. Pro., for a Tort PG I like, that was on an Am. Std. Fretless a while ago.

I moved a couple of Gibson SG double necks. I wouldn't like having one hang on my neck for too long.

Yeah, I imagine they'd start to suck wearing them after awhile.

Would think the even the double neck SG would get heavy after a while.

Nice, Glenn. Sounds good.

I do find tort pgs likeable, and not so much. For me it goes back to the days as a kid when tort was as common as yo-yos. It got to be and still is readily available. In fact I have a gifted custom silver necklace created by my wife's girlfriend that incorporates a tort pick.

That being said, I believe that not all axes look great with tort . . . anymore than all look good with rosewood. Some look phenomenal with either or both. IMHO.

I truly believe you'll have a good match there, Glenn.

I'm old enough to have had the old more flammable celluloid nitrate tort (prone to shrinkage, cracking, disintegration) and I believe today's Fender tort is still celluloid (with less problematic acetate) but only one layer with 3 layers of plastic beneath. That was the case in recent years, but everything changes accordingly. Over time as original changes occurred, varieties deviated from the vintage with colour and material, and along with that so go prices, especially in the quest for that classic look or custom art.

Here is a look at other examples for perusal:

I've seen that Spitfire site before. I have one other Tort PG that I like enough to maybe mount it on the Am. Std. Jazz, in place of the Black PG.

The strings are so black on them, they probably haven't been changed in 20 years. :P
