any reviews yet ????

I've been so stinking busy, I was wanting to attend the tribute concert in Chicago on the 20th and just plain forgot about it.

I just learned about it today.

I was a couple days too late to add it into a CD order that's already on its way ... at least I'll have a cool Rory Gallagher DVD to watch.

I'll have to Google some reviews ...

His Sweet Tea CD was awesome.

Hopefully somebody here has heard it.

I'll have to order it also, no decent music stores within 30 miles of here.

I,m sure Mr. Guy gave us the goods

I share your misery. He'll be in NYC on 8/15 and in total conflict with my professional scheduling. It bugs me that these guys still don't get weekend bookings around here. For example, Clapton comes into Manhattan midweeks, never a Friday, Saturday night.

Bummer!!

Doc

I'll have to check it out. Buddy Guy is one of my favorites.

Also, for people who know him......Joe Bonamassa is coming out with a new CD "Sloe Gin" at the end of August. Apparently you can order in advance from his website (which I did), and I should be getting it any day.

Buddy Guy is back, and he's happy (more about that later)!

'Skin Deep' producer Tom Hambridge assembled a great backing band with Reese Wynans (keyboards, Willie Weeks (bass), Richie Hayward (drums) and David Grissom (guitar).

Bonnie and Bekka Bramlett also provide background vocals.

And for the first time ever, the liner notes have what guitar Buddy plays on each track!

I saw David at Winter NAMM and he told me that he was to play on a some tracks with Buddy, but I forgot until now.

Buddy Guy's new CD 'Skin Deep' came in the mail yesterday, it was officially released today. I must have listened to it at least five times since.

'Skin Deep' has twelve original songs, no covers. It starts off with 'Best Damn Fool', here Buddy struts on how bad he is, and baby he's a bad man! Passion soaked guitar playing all thru the song!

The next track 'Too Many Tears' has Buddy trading vocals with Susan Tedeschi. Tedeschi's last album left me lukewarm, she seemed to lost her fire.

Not so singing with Buddy, he makes you 'burns', I know from jamming with him. Susan's husband Derek Trucks also guests on on this tracks with some very soulful slide guitar.

'Lyin' Like A Dog' and 'Show Me The Money' follows, Buddy just smokes these songs.

'Every Time I Sing The Blues' pairs two of best bluesmens ever, Buddy Guy and Eic Clapton. Buddy edges Eric on, you can just see them facing each other and playing, not tryin' to 'cut heads' but listening and playing TO each other!

'Out In The Woods' has Buddy paired with Robert Randolph. Buddy channels Muddy Waters on this cut and Robert plays steel guitar, another great track.

Buddy continues with smokin' guitar on 'Hammer And A Nail'. Randolph returns with Buddy on 'That's My Home' (OMG I'm in blues heaven).

'Skin Deep' brings back Derek Trucks amazing slide tone on the title track. This song could be 'the' song of our times.

'Who's Gonna Fill Those Shoes' has Buddy lamenting about who gonna carry the blues torch. He doesn't have to worry, once most players hear this album, they'll carry on :).

Ahh yeah, 'Smell The Funk', there always a little funk in Buddy' blues.

'Skin Deep' s last track is 'I Found Happiness', Buddy went thru a painful divorce, and has found someone that makes him happy. I'm happy for him :).

Bought it the day after it was released and I'm playing right now. Sweet Tea was OK, but I must confess I was less than thrilled when he started doing ballads and acoustic stuff on subsequent releases. With Skin Deep you get vintage electric Buddy. I was going to list my favorites, but they would be about 10 of the 12 tracks.

The "guest performer" thing is being overdone these days, but generally it works well here, especially Derek Trucks. He plays his parts and lets Buddy be the star as it should be.

I really missed BG's raw, ragged electric Blues. As stated above, "Buddy Guy is back!" Highly recommended.

O.K. heres my review

DANG !!!!!!!!!

talk about raw Buddy Guy at his best, I ran out and got it on CD today just so I can carry it with me, yes it sounds 80% better on vinyl but hey what ya gonna do?

Out in the woods came on and I ran to my strat, cranked up the stereo and my Blues Deville and had a great time palying with buddy.

Sweetest new blues album in many years !!!!!!!!!!

I bought it about a week or 2 ago and I can say it is a great Buddy Guy album. Some fiery guitar playing and new original songs. You won't be disappointed. And I see it everywhere now for $9.99 so how can you NOT buy it at that price. It's currently a best seller on amazon.

Its not a guy trying to sell records, these are not overdone record company aproved tunes.

This is, I got something to say, gritty old blues with some dirty guitar playing and buddy says it all in this one!!!!!

This reminds me of early BG only with a little more polish and his guests get to rip it up with him, Robert Randolph is killer along side BG on two great tunes.

the liner notes showing which guitar he is playing is very cool too, it didnt come with the Vinyl LP's just in my CD case.

This is true, but Buddy always wanted a crossover radio hit. I guess it just comes with the territory. Maybe he just wants some mainstream recognition, though, there was the Rock Hall of Fame induction. John Lee had to wait until he was almost 90 to get his. BB got his first and last 40 years ago this year.

If it makes him happy, I'd love to see him get it.
