Hey all, new signup here. Been a long time Fender ( Bass ) user here. Have gone through many various brands but ended up sticking with Fender. I hope this is the right forum, I had a question maybe all of you familiar with Fender guitars could answer? I just got into the guitar game recently and decided to upgrade my used MIM Fender Strat HSS ( man I love that thing ) to a USA version. I bought a current year American Pro model as a replacement.

Here is my question though, I am reluctant to take the tags off and claim it as my own just yet. There are a few things that bother me on the fit and finish and I hope you guys can let me know if this is normal "to be expected" type stuffs from a high end model such as the American Pro. There are a few marks along the neck that do not look to be like wood grain or anything like that. It almost looks like a repair of a scratch or something? Does anyone know what these are? I need to figure out if I need to return it for a new one or not. It does bother me, but I would like to gather what info I can before contacting for a return or deciding to just keep it as is.

Those anomalies do look like errant tooling marks in the finish caused by production carelessness that were crudely touched up. I for one wouldn't accept such damage on any new guitar, let alone a premium-priced instrument.

That should have been marked as a factory 2nd BY FENDER regardless of the country of origin. USA, Mexico, China, wherever, whatever. Hopefully it isn't starting to lean this way.

Completely unacceptable. Send it back. Fender should be ashamed this went out the door.

The bottom two are tooling marks or compression marks that look like they've been attempted to be repaired with wood filler. But I refuse to believe Fender would do such a thing. It's damage, no matter what.
The top right mark on the top picture is a normal maple birdseye, and perfectly normal.

Correct. To some, such an anomaly is desirable, especially if the neck is uniformly festooned with them. But the fact remains, it is a naturally-occurring flaw in the lumber.

If it were mine, I'd send it back. What appears to be bad attempts at repair would not be acceptable to me on a new instrument.
