I just saw the news article. http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-40018422 My favorite James Bond movie with him in the role was "For Your Eyes Only." He was 89 and had cancer. RIP, Sir Roger. :(

+1

I thought he also acquitted himself quite well in "The Wild Geese"......

Crazy. I was just going to say the same when I saw mud's post. Although, Roger did a fine job as Bond, I could never forget that he was Simon Templar (1962-1969) and that was good for me.

For others he was a humanitarian, and still others knew him as family and a friend.

May you rest in peace RM.

There was another show he did with Tony Curtis called "The Persuaders!" that I remember watching a few times, as well.

And now, both Tony Curtis and Roger Moore are gone.
To me, The Persuaders was a far better show than The Saint. But I have to say that Moore did a better job than Curtis, who didn't really put his best into this role after the first few episodes. Still a good show to watch, even now.
I raise my crystal tumbler. For Sir Roger Moore and all the smiles he gave us.

It looks like I'm not the only one who remembers Roger Moore for his TV role as Simon Templar-The Saint.I never missed a single episode of the Saint. In my mind, the Saint was 3 times as cool and had more class than all the actors who starred as .007 combined. At the time I was mad about Corgi diecast cars and when I saw the beige Volvo P-1800 on display at our local drug store,I spent my allowance on it....and I still have it!!

Very cool. There was also The Saint's Jaguar XJS. For those who aren't familiar with these, Corgi made some quality stuff back in the day, and there were many. Some of which were the Batmobile, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Avengers Lotus Élan, The Man from U.N.C.L.E Thrush Buster, and James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 (which actually originated as a DB4) the largest sold toy car ever - still being produced. The awesome thing about Corgi is that the cars often included the characters from the shows.

On a music note there was The Monkeemobile and the Beatles Yellow Submarine which not only is a car collectable but a desirable Beatles collectable.

Danbury Mint produced a stunning James Bond version of the silver Aston Martin DB5 in 1/24th scale featuring the details often seen in the films (ejector seat, armor plate, tire shredders, etc). The model was also offered in standard guise, painted in either Dubonnet Red or Aegean Blue (the latter version extremely rare, available only to UK customers).

I remember Corgi cars. I had some that I think I inherited from my older brothers, as well as their original GI Joes from the 60's. I'm sure the cars were from the 60's, too. They were born in 1960 and 1962, and I was born in 1971, so I did get some hand me down stuff like that.
