I am a hopeless guitar fanatic and now have a total of 36 in my guitarsenal. A while back I found a '70s MIJ Terada copy of a Martin D-28 across the pond in Manchester,England-I'm in Newfoundland on the far east of Canada.Anyweay the price was very reasonable-even with the shipping, customs, exchange rate etc. factored in. When the guitar arrived I was gobsmacked by the over the top quality of the guitar and most of all the sound-it sounds better than many of the new Martins that I've heard and very much like the old '60s and '70s ones.I did some checking and found out from the serial No. that she was from the mid '70s "Lawsuit" era...this is where it gets weird.I searched several vintage guitar and Terada sites and discovered that the serial number was markedly different from all other Teradas from that time period, plus it has old Mr. Terada's own signature on it.The moderator of the main Terada forum tells me that I have one of the last guitars that the old gentleman and founder of the company made by himself, that isn't at all surprising, considering the flawless binding, bracing, finish and overall build quality and especially from the amazing Martinesque tone that just rings out so loud, clear and balanced. My nephew who works at Long and McQuade-the largest music retail chain in Canada-was totally awestruck by the guitar and said that it really did sound better than the D-28s that are coming from Nazareth these days and that he'd choose that over any new Martin that they've had in their store since he's been there.I wish that I could post pix or video but anyone who's been on the Forum since 2009 or so,knows all too well that I'm a confirmed Luddite and just can't get the hang of posting, uploading, downloading pix etc..I can fully dismantle just about any solid body electric and refinish it reassemble it etc. but computers baffle me.

BTW: It was Terada that made the fabulous Orville and Orville by Gibson guitars that ended up being superior in most cases to the MIA models that they were copying.Terada also makes the Epiphone Masterbuilt series of guitars as well as the Limited Edition John Lennon 1965 and Revolution Casinos that were limited to 1965 copies of each.Terada also makes top flight guitars for other Japanese guitar makers,as their master luthiers are the best of the best and are held in the highest regard by most other makers. From what I've been able to garner from Terada forums and Terada's own web page,Guitars Japan etc.,they have also furnished factory special runs for Fender,Fender Japan and other U.S.makers.

As I stated in my post,I'm not at all computer savvy however I will try to post pix of the old girl the next time one of my computer literate buddies drops by.I thought that since this is a guitar related site,at least the story of finding such a rarity would at least garner some interest, after it's because of the literary content that novels don't have pix.

It is indeed an interesting story that you've submitted. But if comparing it to a novel, we now need to know if it's listed as fiction or non-fiction, hence the meme. :D

+1

They're merely meandering words on a forum post.

Even my seven year-old granddaughter knows how to post images on my wife's facebook page.

I said it was the guitar not the car in my post.

Uh-huh......just like my multi-million dollar investment portfolio, my 18,000 square-foot mansion with twenty bathrooms, a sixteen-car garage filled with the most roadworthy iron from around the world, and my Gulfstream G5 painted Olympic White with Lake Placid Blue trim and a Fender logo emblazoned beneath the cockpit windows on both sides.

See how it works?

Without pics, I can't prove any of that.

And neither can you.

If you had pictures of all those things, it still wouldn't prove you own any of it. I have a picture of Niagara Falls.

There should still be pix of 26 of my guitars and about 10 of my amps somewhere back in the older posts-under the heading "Guitslinger's Babies" if memory serves me correctly and you should also be able to see them on my Photobucket site-I'm registered there as Guitslinger too.In the meantime I have asked one of my computer savvy buddies to drop by and help me post pix of the old Terada and the Mustang ( she's looking a bit rough now because the restoration was over 30 years and many many gigs ago) anyway just for good measure and to prove they're not a figment of my imagination,I will also post pix of the 10 guitars and various amps I have accumulated since I posted the pix of the original 26.I know for sure that they aren't a figment of my iimagination, after all from experimenting with so many mind altering substances in the 60s and 70s-I know an hallucination when I see one. :D

BTW: Strings, would you rather a notarized affidavit or a Papal Dispensation?
