Paul Anka was on one of those tours that they did in the 1950s with a large number of acts. One of the acts on the tour was Buddy Holly. Paul hit it off with Buddy as they were the only two on the tour that wrote their own material. They made plans to work and write together, but it never happened due to "the day the music died".

Wow! I knew about their touring together, but I never heard that story before.

Thanks, 01GT eibach for the post. Imagine. They could have been another Jerry Liebier and Mike Stoller that charted more than 70 songs.

Good one, Mike.

How about
Dick Dale and Sandy Nelson ?

FSB
Factoid: Sandy once recruited Phil Spector as a guitar player. Beach Boy Bruce Johnston (a former bandmate of Sandy's) made it happen by passing on Phil's phone number. Sandy and Phil made history with a slew of groups together.
