It looks like I bought my Fender Olympic White, Mustang PJ at a good time. Fender apparently has just had a price increase. It went up $25.00 in price. I saw other Fenders are increased as well.

Probably because Bono needs a new bike and some reconstructive surgery.

I saw this posted on another site, "It is because of the CITES rosewood law that went into effect this year".
That may be so, since it does seem to be the basses with Rosewood Fretboards. The Adam Clayton has Rosewood, and it's increased $50.00. 1,799.99 increased to 1,849.99.

Perhaps the money is instead needed to pay for David Evans' guitar lessons......

It's not just rosewood, but wood in general has gone up in price over the last few years. Part of that is paradoxically a better supply of "new" woods, which means less of the traditional woods are available, and they go up in price.
Pine and poplar are still dirt cheap, but that's about it. I pay twice as much for mahogany, ash and birch now as I did a few years back, and cedar, maple and walnut have gone up in price too. That has to be reflected in the price.

Some manufacturers like Gibson and Martin are switching more and more over to new materials.

I just noticed the U.S. price increase on rosewood fretboard guitars and basses. It looks like all (most?) MIA RW's increased $50 and MIM's, $25. Maple is still beginning of year price. I imagine most dealers are still selling at the lower prices until stock runs out.
