Cheers to absent friends.
I think I miss Martian most of all.
Always sad to lose friends like Roy, Matt. Although not a replacement, thanks to the Forum, Martian and others have left their mark to inform and entertain us. They set fine examples to admire and follow.

I have played Fender guitars and amps for 40+ years and yet I have learned so much here on the forum. Made some great friends and I feel quite at home here! Great place to hang out, even though it hasn't been quite a decade!

True, you WERE a late arrival, but it wouldn't have been the same without you. 8)

Thanks to everyone who has shared their advice and opinions here over the last decade. I tend to come and go, but I've always enjoyed the camaraderie and the interesting discussions -- thanks again and happy anniversary! :)

Well, my four year anniversary passed a few days ago. I stumbled across this forum when I was searching the internet for information on rewiring a SLO, and I have been fascinated ever since.

Good people and good information, I think I'm a lifer!

Though I'm not as prolific a member in my number of posts, this Forum is a great resource. Yes, the subjects and discussions can provide entertainment, the real value, for me has been the knowledge and expertise of the members. A couple years ago, it was with the help from members, that I was able to succesfully troubleshoot and determine the source of a problem with one of my vintage amps (67 Bandmaster), which required me to replace a few caps and diodes. Keep on keepin on...... :D

Great post here, ZZDoc. I simply can't believe that it's been (almost) 10 years already!!

First post was by a gent named Arlabester who no longer frequents these parts, and honestly it seems like yesterday:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63&p=66#p66

And, yes, ZZDoc, the timeline is correct here. We'd just returned from a busy NAMM a few weeks prior, and I did the install on an internal-only basis in February just so I could start showing the thing around and get internal buy-in on the concept. With a little of arm-twisting (including a formal proposal that I presented to our executive leadership -- a few copies of which I still have lying around somewhere!), managed to get approval to include forums with the larger overall relaunch of Fender.com that we were just embarking upon. And ... the rest is history as they say. I always say this when talking about this place, but: my/our part of it has really been the easy part -- it's you folks who have made it what it is and I've really appreciated your ongoing enthusiasm through the years!

Lots of memories right around that launch for me, both good and bad - was married at the time, my daughter was 1 month old, and I had had absolutely minimal sleep for the entire week prior at the point we turned things on. Intense, exciting, and yet stressful times!

Now - I'm thinking we really need a 10 year anniversary gear giveaway ... agreed?

That was a great read, Brad. It's rewarding to see some of that old gang still showing up from time to time. Sad to have lost a few over the years, but happy to have some interesting and welcomed new members. It's also great to see you still here. The Forum wouldn't be the same without you, and besides, were that not the case, we'd protest and riot till the cows come home. Naw, I'm kidding. We'd protest longer if we had to. I hope you caught up on your lost sleep. :P
This Forum was instrumental in my Strat and amp purchase, and I look forward to passing good vibes and sharing for another ten years should I luck out.

A 10th anniversary? Definitely a Forum occasion to celebrate. Agreed. :D
Cheers!

Interesting post, Brad. Enjoyed the historical review. As well, your sharing on Facebook all your professional and personal stories. Wonderful the way your daughter is coming up.

Good idea you have there. Worth mulling over. A;; best wishes on your new opportunity. Perhaps another CD for my collection.

Doc

Well done, with a decade of information, entertainment and friendship! I don't visit, or post as much as I used to, but still like to come back now and then. Here's to the next ten!
