I agree that it's not the same as old school punk but quite a bit of thier stuff rocks.

And quite frankly, I consider the American Idiot Album is one of the most important rock album released in years.

American Idiot is a lot better than people make it out to be. It was a bit too politically based for me, but I still enjoyed it. I like the way it flows from the beginning to end. One of the most important albums in years, I'm not so sure of, but decent nonetheless in my mind.

I felt that albums lyrics said a lot of important thing and represented society today.

Some of the greatest songs in the last 50 years have been political.

it's not even punk in my book. The Ramone's, now that's punk. CGBG's in 1978...that's punk. Green Day? Not so much.

Actually, its meant to be punk rock, not punk. Two different styles. Green day are the former, and pretty good, in my opinion. Joey Ramone was also a fan.

CBGB's 1975/6 I believe is the era your referring to.
Thats when The Ramones were playing their new brand of music, along with some others.

Went there once, don't remember the year. Those years are kinda fuzzy. Didn't like it at all.

This may be a cliche, but I don't give a crap.

Their old stuff = kind of ok
Their new stuff = makes me want to die
