Wow. After a brief absence from the forums, I come back to find stuff like this. Really makes me wonder what freedoms exactly I was protecting while serving, and why.

You were protecting the freedom to do this, and all the others we tend to take for granted.

Multiple 'Thank You's' for your service and we hope this finds you well.

Amen to what Doc said!

Thank you for the service you have rendered for our country. From one veteran to another! Thanks. Your service does matter! And contrary to what some believe, it is important service and greatly appreciated!

I did my 20 in the USAF protecting our freedoms, traditions, and way of life.
It distresses me when I see purposefully used bad grammar, spelling and intolerance to look cool. This is not what our educational system should be producing; and the educational system is one of those rights and traditions we all protected because it was supposed to be worth protecting; we come home and find this...
It's not cool to come off like you're un-educated and stupid.

What's with all the kiddie threads and childish posts? Has this place become a creche? Fender daycare?

I should have known it wouldn't have been worth reading from the thread title.. now I just want my five minutes of life back... :(

Yes, it's been quite the fun past few days  It has since died down, but for a while pretty bad.

Okay guys, after re-reading my last post, it come off a little arrogant and a little holier-than-thou, and I didn't mean for it to. I'm sorry.

All I MEANT by that was I come back from serving this great country of ours, and I see a LOT of brats that don't really respect anything, that just sort of take everything for granted, and believe their "clique" is better that everyone else'. It's just aggravating. Some people need to grow up.

You've nothing to apologise for, Al. I've not been to war, yet think exactly the same thing. These children don't realise how lucky they are in this world that all they have to worry about is which shade of black t-shirt best matches their blue-black dyed hair, and that their biggest stressors in life concern what ZOMG preppy brand clothes someone else is wearing. Some people just need a great big dose of grow the duck up.

A quick trip to a 3rd world country in which kids their ages are raising their orphoned siblings amid atrocious conditions and still smiling should do the job. To place them in similar situations and remove their allowances would truly give them something to be emo about.

You know Frankie, one of my COs had a tattoo that pretty much said it all: "Dulce Bellum Inexpertis" Which basically means, "War is sweet to the inexperienced" And I see it all the time, younger guys that are asking me what is was like, that are wanting to enlist and go fight the war in the box, and I can't recommend it. Yeah, it's a great feeling to serve, but man....it'll change you. I hope some of there pampered brats never have to experience it, because some of them couldn't handle a smack across the face from reality.

Glory's a wonderful notion, after all.. but then that's all it is. It's just a construct, and intangible; whereas the physical and mental effects of service are all too often very real and wholly inescapable. :(

It's a nasty paradox that all the fighting undertaken historically to achieve and/or protect our freedom has in the end provided too much of a good thing, and laid down the conditions to produce such timewaste people with no perspective nor reality check to speak of. Kinda a slack evolutionary dead-end.. with all pressures upon our existance removed, we find ourselves lumped with idle-minded kids who obssess over the minutae of life whilst never experiencing the harsh side of anything, let alone even a [much-needed] slap in the face. :x
