Wow! Just saw this thread... Being that I'm a 100% biker/technical speed/death metal metalhead; I really don't associate with "Preps" or "Yuppies" as I call them. As far as clothes go, I prefer my old beat-up Levis and some ripped-up tee-shirts and some black leather boots and usually a skull cap. So obviously I don't waste good money on anything else but stuff for my bike, gear (which includes recording equipment), stuff for my boy, and more gear (which includes as many Strats as I can get my hands on 8) ). Actually when I see or have to deal with "Yuppies", I generally feel a sense of laughter inside because I know that they don't really know how to do anything else other than the usual "keep up with the Jones'" deal. Other than that they generally look at me with a sense of fear and we go on our seperate journeys. As far as the EMO thing goes...that's cool with me because there's really no lines drawn between EMO and the style of METAL that I live everyday. KEEP SHREDDIN'!!!!!!!!!

It didn't wander off, it jumped in with both feet.

Would any of us like to be stereo typed?
Those models are young people wearing fender wear trying to associate good times; good looks with Fender. That's ok, Personally I think the gals are nice to look at.
So far as "rockers" go I really don't understand why some folks seem to think looking like the Geico caveman is cool either.
I tolerate; some might think that I look weird too.
To each their own.

This is ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned, anyone has the right to wear whatever they want, whenever they want. There's no rules of clothing.

I know it's hard to believe, but shortly after highschool all this prep, emo, jock, band geek, stoner, teacher's pet and any other group you like to label people with will mean nothing. People just become people. Don't like em, don't hang with em. Problem solved. You'll find you have as much right to tell people what to wear as others have a right to tell you what to wear. Unless of course you think you're so special that you do have the right to tell other what to wear. Then you're in for a few hard lessons.

+1, I couldn't have put it better myself. It's not that hard of a concept (even being in high school, I hate all the labeling and such...who cares?) to grasp. The sooner the people get that in their head the better off the world will be.

You really can't call anyone you see in a photo a "fake rocker" until you actually meet them.

Look at people who played rock and roll - you have everything from clean-cut, suit-wearing boys who stand perfectly still while playing, to people who are barely dressed and launching themselves off of stage decorations.

The forum is about the music, the machines, and the magic. If you can be distracted by the crepe paper, you've lost your focus. Reboot!!

Doc
