A week or two ago I posted about the recording tool I got to replace Audacity / Laptop recording. This change was done for convenience and ease of use, and because I use the recording function a lot to play back the music. It tells me how my timing and tempo sound.

Anyway, the tool is the Boss BR Micro. It also has an MP3 mode with a very cool feature: You can play back an MP3, like a backing track, and slow it down to as little as 25% of the original speed. I have found this to be a great thing because I can slow the music down enough to play along with it. You can also speed it up to 200% of original speed.

Quite a tool.

If you are interested in this device, I recommend that you buy the optional power supply with it. Power consumption is surprisingly high, and two AA Dura Cells are good for about three hours of operation. I thought that would be fine when I first got the recorder, but since I use it so much now that the power supply is very practical.

That sounds effective for practicing for sure...
It is probably appropriate to mention the Fender G-Dec® Amps in this post.
"feature amp modeling and effects, drum/bass patterns, teaching and performance backing loops, internal synth with MIDI interface, tuner, phrase sampler & more"...
I don't own one but I have seen demo's in the stores.
They also are effective learning tools as well.

Good point. I use the recorder with a G-DEC Jr, a fabulous little amp that works well with the recorder. I like the Jr because it's so easy to use. Everything is with simple knobs instead of with digital menus.
