Well, no. He sold it.
But made the gear cheap enough that budding musicians could afford a guitar and amp if putting in a little effort. That was his genius.
That he couldn't stand blues and rock didn't stop him from seeing that there were others who liked it, and how he could best serve them while still making a penny, "putting a Fender in every home". Easy to make, easy to repair, and built to survive travel and stage.
He was the right man at the right time.
