Hello Fender Awesome Help Forum,
I have a quick question. I want to store my amp in long term storage. What is the proper way to do this? So far I have a plastic container that fits the amp and was wonder if i should use an anti moister protection like https://www.containerstore.com/s/dry-ou ... &q=moister

Any suggestions for techniques and products?

What is long-term? a year or more in my mind.
I wouldn't advise adding anything to the interior of the amp that would come in contact w/ wood, metal or other components. Store in the original box if available, if not pack in a similar way as you received it new. Store it in place protected from the elements, temperature/humidity controlled if possible at a minimum.

Adding a large desiccant bag or two inside the box away from the amp would be a good idea, imo.

What kind of amp and how long?

Any damp metal will corrode and damp speaker cones are more susceptible to damage.

Somewhat true. In the context of an amp:
Gold won't, unless the moisture is aqua regia, so gold plated contacts will be fine.
Stainless steel and chromed steel won't either, unless subjected to acids.
And aluminium exposed to air generates a thin layer of sapphire dust that protects the metal from further corrosion.

The amount of time for storage would be more than 2 years. It is a older Blues Jr. I dont have the carboard boxes but I can purchase a plastic box. My concern is when I close the pastic box, it will seal it; resulting in increase of risk of moister build up. So I think the desiccant packs will be required.

Forgot to mention a thorough cleaning before putting in storage. Maybe a little corrosion-X on all the exposed metal parts will help w/ any possible rust issues inside the plastic container.
The thing about desiccants is they have a finite absorption limit and should be replaced when that is reached or desorption will occur as the desiccant material destabilizes. Given the size of the container, I would estimate an 8-16oz desiccant bag would be needed. The tighter the packaged fit inside the container the better and as air tight as possible, sealing the opening is preferred(waxed,taped,etc.).
