Well, I could buy it, but it wouldn't make me sound like Pink Floyd. :P

Yeah. but you couldn't sound like Pink Floyd without it. It might be a good investment to start that PF training.

I bet you could sound like Pink Floyd (or Beatles) just fine by hiring Alan Parsons as a sound engineer. I hear he's still open for business, even though he's in his retirement age now.

Right you are there arth1. For sure you'd be able to sound like Alan Parsons. :P

Not a great time to be in London as moments ago terrorists attacked. Gunshots and a vehicle ran over pedestrians. 300 metres from Buckingham Palace and a small jaunt to Apple. :(

I have a DVD training set by Alan Parsons explaining how to use a console.
It's been a very long time since I watched it but I think it possible he may have used that one for his demos.
I may have to plug it in again and have a little look-see.

It might be cool to record to tape and get a warm analogue sound.

I took a brief look at the rules for bidding.
Looks like there will be a lot of extra expenses, even before you start arranging for shipping.
It doesn't strike me as bargain material.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

As for the older gear, I've seen a lot of difficult hard wired (especially British) equipment, and sometimes they've been modded in a pinch to get a job done without taking time to document it. That's when you want to get the original tech or engineer to be around. I can't say that would be the case with Abbey, but ya never know (given the age, times, experimentation, and changes throughout the years).
