Well, I saw Radiohead at Bonnaroo 2006, and they put on a legendary 28 song, 2.5 hour setlist. Their longest to date. That completed my life.

Then I saw Clapton from the 4th row on his last show of his past tour in Columbus, OH. That was great, but somehow took a second to Radiohead's energy.

Fastforward to now, I've seen John Mayer three times to date, and each was great, but most recently I saw him in Cincinnati, OH (6th row) on June 26th and then Cuyahoga Falls, OH on July 1st (10th row). I won a contest, got backstage passes, met him before the show, he signed my guitar, and then played one of the best setlists I've ever seen from him. That takes the cake.

This is one of the hardest questions I've ever had to answer, but I'll stick with Mayer.

That makes me so jealous. Those concerts would be life changing for me...haha. I am a diehard Radiohead fan and love Clapton and Mayer. If only we'd get more concerts in South Dakota or I had the money to travel.

i know the feeling. you'd be surprised how few concerts there are in Louisiana... you'd think that more people would want to play in what's left of New Orleans, but that's really not the case.... it really sucks.

Boy that's a good list!
Springsteen 1978 Springfield, MA 1st
T Heads, Clash, Ramones, Pretenders/Simple Minds sometime in the early 80's Agora Ballroom Hartford, CT
Dylan was awesome at Mohegan Sun 2004!
Wished i could've seen Hendrix 'THo.
Seen Havens at Pkse., Stones recently and Santana with his cool wife at a book store in Tempe wasn't really a concert but it was good to see him.

You reminded me of other great concerts I saw...
Chick Corea in Tel-Aviv Israel...he came to the TV station where I was working and I served as his Hebrew-English interpreter.
Springsteen at Madison Square Garden
U2 at Long Island Coliseum
Sting and Branford Marsalis at Jones Beach
Pretenders and the Smithereens at the Garden or Carnegie Hall
Big Joe Turner at some small club in the Village
Eric Burden and War at some other small club in the Village
and
Earth, Wind, and Fire and Sly and the Family Stone at the Garden

In the Emerson, Lake, and Palmer concert, it started with Keith Emerson descending onto the stage from 30 ft in the air strapped to his piano bench...he was upside down as was the piano and he was playing the whole way down...amazing.
At the Earth, Wind, and Fire concert, the lead singer came down from the ceiling of the Garden on a guide wire onto the stage...those were the days.
The last concert I saw was BB Knig at Mizner Park in Boca Raton FL.

Yeah...Our country is just too damn big to fill with good concerts. Oh well...I'll just move.

They were definitely life changing. We get lucky in Ohio because artists favor Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland, so there are three hotspots around here. The Clapton tickets were actually a gift to my brother from his (ex) girlfriend, which is why I had the privilege of going with him. They would have been too expensive for me. The Bonnaroo trip was expensive, but worth every penny of the cash I scraped up to go. The entire experience felt like a dream. It was like an epic journey to see Radiohead, which is a very rare occurance.

The Mayer tickets weren't too expensive, but I got lucky that he was in Ohio twice in one week, AND really lucky that I won the contest.

Can't wait to look back and tell my kids about those experiences some day. :D

There's so many....

I'd have to say either:

Pink Floyd at Madison Square Garden for the Animals tour...or,

Pink Floyd at the Nassau Coliseium for The Wall.

I'd have to say The Wall. There's just something special about 12,000 seriously altered people screaming "tear down the wall".

i saw Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones in the same week about 2 years ago. Paul was awesome.

I saw Steve Miller he was great too. Bo Diddley was cool, BB king, Pinetop Perkins, Koko Taylor and Hubert Summerlin were spectacular.

I also saw willie Nelson, not bad and the Doobie Brothers. I got a signed poster from them they were great!

Paul by far was the best

i gots a question... which do you prefer? a smaller acoustic show that gets you within 10 feet of the musican you're watching, or a loud rockin arena show that puts you up in the nosebleeds? i've been to both, and i prefer the acoustic. what about you?

Best recent concert was the July 29, 2007 Crossroads Festival in Chicago - - - Clapton, Steve Winwood, Jeff Beck, BB King, Hubert Sumlin, Jimmy Vaughan ... another "best" goes back to June of '74 in Houston - - - Commander Cody, Eagles, and the Allman Brothers

I swear if I read too many more posts in this thread I'm going to suffer deep depression for not having been to any great concerts. I got to move out of this state. Thanks for sharing your experiences though. I'm quite jealous.

I saw them for that tour too. They put on an amazing show. I have been a huge John Mayer fan since then.
