And that's become a real problem after the site redesign. Earlier, if you went to the front page, you would be redirected to your country's site if appropriate, but now it checks for every page, and if it can't find it for your region, it drops you to the front page.

Believe it or not it's actually the reverse of what you're stating here - i.e., it's actually less restrictive currently than it used to be years past. Regardless, point taken (and agreed!) on everything you're saying here in terms of negative impact on user experience and link-sharing. VERY much a known point of weakness.

Update:

I already knew that if a USA poster embeds a YouTube vid there's 99% chance I'll just see a white rectangle where the vid should be with no clickable areas within it.
Now I'm noticing that I can't even see the vids I embed myself.
I just posted one in the Modern Amps section and it's just a white rectangle on my screen.

For all persons reading this I would like to humbly request we all try to post URLs along with (maybe under?) the embedding for the time being until this gets sorted.

Don't think the above has anything to do with us, BMW-KTM - the vid that you mentioned you just posted shows up just fine both in US and outside.

This is curious.
I just double checked, as I have done a number of times since the website upgrade, that my Flash is up to date and enabled.
I tried disabling it with a reboot with no change so re-enabled it.
I've found more often than not that any changes I make to Safari Preferences require a system reboot before fully functional so I now reboot whether it needs it or not.
I do have pop-up blocking enabled but the forum is already on my exceptions list.
When I removed the forum from the list and re-visited the forum after a re-boot, I again added the forum to the exceptions list, so I know the URL isn't outdated and therefore pop-ups are not the likely culprit.
I find it interesting that this started after the website changed.
I wonder if we have any other Canadian members with Macs experiencing this and how they resolved it.

I'll make a query at the Apple Forum.
Thanks Brad.

Update:
Making some headway.

I've ruled out the website as an issue and also any international protocols kind of thing.
I did that by taking the suggestion of a poster on the Apple forum and tried a different browser: Opera.
The videos display and play properly in Opera.
That would seem to indicate to me it must be some kind of settings thing in Safari.
I like Safari and would like to continue using it if I can.
Switching to Opera is a side-stepping alternative, not really a solution.
I know that's common thinking in today's world but I'm more of a "let's fix this" kind of guy unless there is some kind of indication that there is no fix.
(If my best friend isn't doing what I want him to do I don't switch to a new best friend.)
I will keep on working on it.

As you may know, MacOS no longer ships with Java preinstalled, so you’ll need to download and install java on your own if you need it in MacOS 10.13 or 10.12. This is to insure that the most recent version of Java is installed on the Mac if it’s needed, aiming to lessen potential security issues that may come up with older versions of the Java software (though older versions of Java can be installed if need be for a specific reason).

Thanks Mike.
I've heard a few horror stories about Java.
I'll look into it though.

OK.
I already have Javascript installed on my computer but it was disabled.
If memory serves I think I loaded it a while back while trying to resolve this issue and since it didn't work I disabled it.
I re-enabled it now and rebooted.
Still nothing.
It's back to being disabled.
Websites the world over are recommending people stop using it for security reasons.
I guess it's full of security holes.
Something to do with cross-platform compatibility keeps them from closing all the holes because each platform is different and have different requirements.
