I have a 90's reissue Duo Sonic and a Cyclone II. They both have cracks in the body, near the Neck Pocket. The Cyclone didn't have one when I got it a month ago, and has been treated excellently. A: What causes this to just happen? B: What should I do to prevent it from continuing? C: Should I worry about them?

The cracks look to be superficial, only in the finish, but they really, really bother me. The Cyclone sits in a double stand with my Tele, which has zero issues. Please help me....

One thing I can think of.......is a quick temperature change. I travel between warm temps, and very cold temps (as in snow), and I'm very paranoid about finish cracks when I do it. I take my guitar from a warm car to a house that has been sitting in snow for weeks, and is about 32F degrees or lower. I leave my guitar in the case, put it in my bedroom, turn the bedroom wall heater on......and don't open the case for hours.

But then....you said you take really good care of your guitars, so it's probably not the case. Just a thought......

Yup, temperature change, humidity change, the neck bolts just a little bit too tight.

We can't tell you that they are only in the finish (probably so).
Take them to a luthier/guitar repair guy if you are really worried.

Are you sure it's in the body and not just in the finsh? I've seen that happen alot.

+1, the crack might be in the finish not the actual wood. Or maybe not. I know how you feel, take it to a music shop and ask about it there.

I kinda like the cracked look on finishes, gives it a bit of that relic'd look. Although my Melody Maker already fully-relic'd...its the vintage stuff you don't want relic'd, right?
