It was outside today and went pretty good. The only negative thing was that I missed
out on hooking up with ZZ Doc again. He was a couple hours north of here and I had
tried to get a fill-in or sub, but no luck. I first met ZZ Doc up there several years ago. Now
he's off on his next stop further up the road...

Well, it's a little after 2am (EST) and I'm just getting in after unloading.
Great gig at a blues club. A few musician friends in the audience and we
had a couple of them sit in during the last set. A fun night!

Glad you had a great time, Mike. I remember those fun days of gigs.

On the unloading: The great thing about playing out is having the opportunity of leaving something behind. In fact, there are two opportunities. The stuff you don’t take to the gig, and the stuff you forget after the gig. The worse thing is not remembering where it was or discovering it gone at a much later date.
One time I forgot drumsticks at home. Close by the concert hall, I was fortunately near a music store. They coaxed me into buying some recently introduced new fangled nylon tip sticks. In the middle of James Bond’s theme the right stick tip flew off with a tone change on the cymbal. From a ching to a chang. Unfortunately, the projectile hit some poor surprised audience member in the front row. Whoa! I was too involved supporting the band to notice that until I saw someone rubbing their head. Alas, the show had to go on. I went missing from that gig for days. Thankfully, I wasn’t found.
Other than that I had a great time, and I hope the crowd did too. :P

When I started this thread I thought there would be some good posts
by many of the forum members. Doesn't make any difference if you post
a paid gig, a jam, an open mic night, a charity gig, etc.

Come on folks, let's hear about where y'all been playing yer Fenders.

I'm sorry Mike...got nothing to report any more. I DO spend a lot of time in my Studio---but that's as far as it goes for me these days. I don't gig, the guys I usually play with have become a HUGE pain in my $@!. I still love them, but it seems when one has time to get together, another has something going on. And NONE of them "really" have that much going on in their lives...they are just lying and/or lazy. I gave up a couple years ago.
We all grew up with each other, and it used to be nothing to get together (basically show up and play), but now "making an appointment" to see (and play with) my best friends has become a humongous nightmare.
I stick around the house now, and I have one neighbor that plays guitar, and another that plays bass...and from time to time when the weather permits, we get our instruments out and play next to a campfire in our back yards (I also grab the Cajon and pound out a beat). That's about it.

Being disabled, I don't get out much anymore but my next-door neighbor's son is a drummer and the neighbor across the street plays guitar. When one of us hears another playing, sometimes we'll pick up our guitars and join in. It's very casual and fun. We all like blues and classic rock and we shake up the neighborhood pretty good. 8)

That's cool, Mark. Make the neighbors hear good music!

my gigging has dried up. But I've been having a lot of fun recording in FL Studio.

I would post some of those in the 'Original Recording' thread, but nothing is copyrighted yet, and I'm working with a writing partner. Can't post it until we do the paperwork. :(

Truth be told, I don't really miss gigging too much. I miss the really good gigs but I don't miss the rest. I think about those times when I drove really far and lugged all my gear into a place just to have a boring night. Spending the night trying to protect my gear. Loading and unloading in the rain. Sitting around before and after sound check waiting, waiting, waiting. After doing that for a long time, I'm enjoying some studio time.
