I've been around here since the early days when it was only open week days
and no weekends. I've met some good friends here and have seen some other
good friends pass away. I check in every day, but there hasn't been many new
or interesting topics lately.

Many of the old regulars still with us have stopped posting. I miss the old days
of "prizes" and many of the old regulars who always had something interesting
to post on topic.

What say you?

I enjoy the forum and it gives me no small measure of satisfaction whenever I can help someone out of a jam and get their amp or guitar back on the road. The occasional off-topic discourse can be lively at times but it can help to dissolve arterial plaque for those so afflicted. As to "contest giveaways", I'm neither hot nor cold. If I wanted it, I'd already have it.

There are times when I think the forum has run beyond its 'best before' date.
Those things happen.
I guess time will tell.

Like Mike I have made good friends here. At times there have been some lulls in the action so to speak and it would seem we are in one now, but that could all change tomorrow!

I think like any forum it is all about sharing information, as in Learning. I have learned more about vintage Fender Amps here than I ever thought possible.

I'm not sure if it has "jumped the shark," but I have noticed a difference in activity, which can happen in any forum, or social media for that matter. I suppose people come and go and life goes on like that. I've even left here and came back a few times, even deleted accounts, thinking I'd never go back here, but then I'd miss it and come back. :P Maybe we need a good trolling to liven things up. I know, let's talk politics and religion! That should last about 5 minutes until a full blown melt down ensues. :P I'm joking, of course. If I want to deal with that crap, all I have to do is to log in my own Facebook account.

Which is precisely why I never bothered to open a FB account.

Just a quick glance at the "joined" year of forumites shows that many have stopped
posting.

Missing the likes of Ceri, AndyBigHair, FHopkins, KingOfPain, Maxwell Street, Revolution Blues,
Chet Feathers, ZZDoc, 63Supro, orvilleowner, cherokee747, giljanus and others.

I've messaged Brad about this and he's indicated that we might see some changes to get the activity
here "bolstered up to historic levels". :D

i will say this.... I find this the best forum to get questions answered. I belong to probably a half dozen other forums for other brands I have purchased. there are times I posted a question, and I didn't see a response for weeks, if at all. the cats here on the forum are some of the best around.

this is the first place I go for help.

For comparison, the Gibson forum:

"Total posts 1730329| Total topics n/a| Total members 69054"

"Most users ever online was 752 on December 03, 2014 - 10:06 PM"

I have only been here since Dec of 2010 and I have seen some changes to activity, this is really the only forum I attend. I find it interesting, educational, fun sometimes, and maybe a little annoying at points (when it comes to name calling and disrespecting one another ) I guess that's in a lot of forums. I have been to other forums, and to me they seemed not as friendly, and helpful as this one, my guess is the forum rules are stricter, and are paid more attention here, I do like that. I do miss the Promo giveaway, and some of the old guard that was chased away, by some of the disrespecting ,that goes on, but all in all I come here when I can
mud

I fully agree with this assessment. I sometimes "lurk" at other forums where the high tech talk is well over my head, hoping to catch a few stray bits of knowledge by osmosis and proximity but when I actually have a pressing question, I come here. Guitars or amps, we've got the best and most prompt source of reliable info on the web from what I can see and I think it is exactly because the place has rules that our good guys keep coming back.

This train of thought has me missing Martian.

555,200 :!: :!: :!:
While I do not post much, I have assumed the role of professional lurker here. And I gotta figure this is a good time to personally thank ALL of the members in here for their learned insight and advice. This board has a refreshing and rewarding environment (even when it's gnarly); and I have been helped by more than I can name. However, these folks have gone above-and-beyond for me and everyone in here: Arjay, bluesbondsman, Chet Feathers (I don't remember his screen name), Miami Mike, and 63Supro (and some of you risk you're real name too; btw, I'm Bob).
I miss the freewheelin' "old days", but maybe all the interesting stuff has been covered. Really, you could get most of the info you need with a search; and not actually have to post. I'm thinking that might be at least one issue that may be influencing the diminution of posting volume.
Thanks again to everyone though!
