I received some CD/DVD making catalog in the mail the other day and was looking thru it yesterday. I began thinking late last night about all of the CDs that I have. Actual CDs and their jewel cases that I purchased either new or used from the store. So this morning I ran over to my storage unit and counted each one. Not including download or burn CDs from the interwebs or friends, but original CDs, I have 673.

I am curious as to what others have.

Only counting complete CDs (jewel case/CD/linear notes) please.

At one time in my 20's I had a CD collection that was nearing the 1,000 count. I'm probably responsible for building at least one Best Buy store. A few years ago I ripped the songs I liked off of most and sold, sold, sold. Right now my collection teeters around 80. There's just not enough time to listen to it all.

I'll just say 8500, but it may actually be somewhere closer to 10,000 or more. I haven't counted or attemped a count in years. All I know is that I have a 6foot by 5foot walk in closet with full CD shelves on all the walls, and it took me 2-3 weeks to unpack and alphabetize them all when I moved into my current house. Then in just about every other room in the house there is a stack of at least 10 CDs. Basically I have never really gotten into burning CDs and always end up buying things, either new or used, but then I also worked in commercial radio for about 10 years, and you just seem to get a lot of free stuff, but I sold a lot of that last year, but still have the huge CD collection...

Wow...there's gotta be a few in there you probably haven't even listened to! That's quite the collection you have there Bowlfreshner!
I have around 300-400 CD's and about 100 vinyl records.

Thanks! I'm pretty sure I've listened to everything at least once. I have a lot of vinyl as well, but not nearly as much as my CDs, but most of that is at my parents house, or I just got it on CD. So thats part of the reason why my collection is huge, as I would get CDs of stuff I have on vinyl and cassette tape...then there always seems to be some weird Iggy Pop, Stooges, MC5, or Hawkwind import, re-master, or re-issue that I have to get...I own several different re-master editions of Ozzy and Iron Maiden CDs to name a few...

I have about 400 that I actually bought in a store and about 600 that I downloaded from the internet and burned to CD. I also have about 100 or so Concert DVD's that I have downloaded from the internet and burned to DVD.

I thought I had a lot of music, but compared to you guys I'm not even close. I have about 200 CDs, 350+ vinyl LPs, 30 cassettes, and even three 8-tracks!! Had hundreds of 45s too but they're long gone.

I have about 400 cd's and over a 1200 45's and 33 1/3 also have about 20 U.K. 7' singles at 33 1/3 speed I love cover art from 60's and 70's and photo sleeves. Example that I have are like Elvis (Moody Blue) that one is printed on blue vinyl also Alice Cooper (Schools Out) this one did not have the album in a paper sleeve but it was slid in a pair of pink girl underware.
I am sure some of ya all my age remember the days of all the art covers and photo sleeves.

Some of the classic album cover art just doesn't cut it on something the size of a CD jewel case. I miss those days.

My wife and I just cataloged my CD collection a couple weeks ago, actual CD's 5578, but the music collection as a whole is much, larger.

About a year ago I stopped buying CD, and just buy stuff off of iTunes. The wife had to start regulating my iTunes purchases to $20.00 per week, cause it is just to easy having that wealth of music right at your finger tips, and I tend to get click happy.

The music library is now stored on a 1TB backpack drive, and with the recent purchase of Apple TV it is like having the best junk box in the world right in my living room...AWWW Music heaven!!! It is a beautiful thing!!!

Hello Zod,

227 factory CD's are on my shelf.
And 1 burned CD featuring Elvis Costello.

I thought I had more?

I'll be interrogating my sons tonight.

Cheers.

I have a "bunch" and they're scattered around in different locations. I'd guess about 300 or so. :?:

I've loaned out quite a few that I never got back too. :(
