To make it short this time....

I am of the opinion that the quality of Fender cases needs a serious upgrade and I use a comparison with the cases PRS supplies with their guitars as a comparison.

Your feedback is appreciated....as always.

I bought a deluxe ash tele am. the case that came with that is great. the 57 hot rod that i bought came with a vintage case and it leaves alot to be desired. don't like the latches and the strat dosen't fit snug. almost like a universal case would be. I do love both guitars and fender has made me a better player. I just figured that it was made the way they made them in 57. have fun.

I bought one of those new formed cases. The description says it for either right or left handed guitars. Well... My left handed large headstock strats would not fit in the case. The headstock wouldn't fit and allow the case to close.

We bought the new "08 American Standard Strat, it has the airline luggage style case.

Don't know how you can outdo that 8)

I have the `08 American Standard Strat also and the case is excellent. It has a locking latch and as mentioned above it`s good to use on the airlines.

My case is Vintage style and I don't have any problems with it at all!

Same here...plus the vintage styled cases have way more class. I have a tan case with a gold interior. When I open it up it makes my guitar look like artwork on display.

I have two SKB molded cases and a Fender (don't know who makes those) molded case that came with my American Deluxe. They seem to do the job. However.........I've seen the new cases that come with the 08 American Standard with the new latches, etc.....and they look so much better. I was almost tempted to buy one for my Strat......but then thought, "Why put out that much money, if my current cases are doing the job?". If one of my cases go bad on me.......I'll probably buy that new design.

[quote="Syeklops"]I have two SKB molded cases and a Fender (don't know who makes those) molded case that came with my American Deluxe.

On that note I shall detail my motivation for the post. On reading the specs of the new Classic Player Jazzmaster and Jaguar I noted 'gig bag.'
OK. We all know how that reflects point of origin. And I keep thinking "shouldn't these instruments deserve respectable cases??"

The last one I got with a Fender was in '97 when I purchased an American Standard and the dealer gave me a Strat-Plus case, moulded, and form fitted. I strongly believe SKB was the subcontractor for this.

I am also sure that G&G makes the cases for Fender AND PRS. The cases which accompanied my PRS CS24 and my PRS Hiland were beautifully crafted, plush-lined, rectanguilar, and form-fiited affairs, light years ahead of what Fender gave me with my Fender Custom Shop guitar.

My guess is that things may be improving, and likely SKB is building some of Fender's new cases, but there is testimony above to the effect that some of the stuff they supply leaves a great deal to be desired.

If a vintage RI rates a case with a 'vintage' look, it can certainly be tweed on the outside, and gold plush on the inside with a structural integrity designed to protect the expensive and precious item within.

To reflect on a prior response, let me tell you something. There ain't nothing like the look of a beautiful guitar sitting in a well crafted form fitted case. The first time I saw that Hiland I could've died and gone to heaven...a maple neck and a tortoise-shell 10 Top against a navy blue plush, and no wasted space to distract your attention from the guitar.

Awesome!

C'mon Fender, get with the program!!

Doc

My two cents:

I'm a huge fan of the vintage cases. I wouldn't send one thru airline baggage, but for every other purpose I think they are beautiful and plenty safe enough.

Hello ZZDoc,

I like the G&G cases the best,
I don't travel around with my guitars
so they aren't abused by baggage handlers.

The new cases seem like they can get
take quite a lickin my only complaint is
that there isn't a cover on the accessory area.

Cheers.

PS Doc went to the bookstore, the stratocaster book
will be in next week.

Thanks.
