Meddle, followed by Ummagumma.

It took me a long time to like/accept DSOTM. Now I kind of like it, but it was a major shift for PF. I don't really care for anything after Dark Side, except for a few individual songs. PF became the Roger Waters Band. At least they warned me - "... and when the band you're in starts playing different tunes..."

I liked the band when they were more experimental in their musical arrangements, and their dabbling with sound effects were more about using the "sound" to enhance the song, ie "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast".

I thought they had a good thing going using heir soundtrack albums for more straight ahead songwriting. They really had the best of both worlds; creative albums and commercial albums. La Valle was a beautiful album!

But based on their album sales I am clearly in the minority! 8)

1. Animals
2. Wish You Were Here
3. The Wall
4. Dark Side of the Moon
5. Atom Heart Mother

"Animals" was the great surprise of my young life. "The Wall" came out the summer between 9th and 10th grade, and I really got into it, as did everyone. I always thought of "The Wall" as my generation's Sergeant Pepper. I saw a copy of "Animals" in the remnant bin at K-Mart, so I decided to give it a try. Even after hearing all the other great Pink Floyd albums, it remains my undisputed favorite.

To me it was the last great Floyd album. They were still kinda working as a team. It was one hell of a concert too, I actually enjoyed it more then The Wall. The flying pig was a great touch.

I've never seen as many people in an "altered state" as I did at the Animals show.

Tough to beat Animals, The Wall or Dark Side.

Mostly, all of them. I give advantage to Dark Side of the Moon. But The Division Bell, which is Gilmour's masterpiece, is great.
