Greatly appreciate the thought, but this is more of a "Web 2.0" approach here (OK, I'm greatly stretching the metaphor, but hopefully you'll know what I mean.) I'm not a fan of communities where mods are intervening every 10 seconds, driving conversations, keeping them on track, monitoring every word, etc. -- I've been there, done that, and witnessed it sap the 'genuineness' of the base communication. Just my $0.02 based on previous forum experience. On the other hand, I'm also not a fan of completely unmoderated free-for-alls either. So, from the outset, the intent here has been to lie somewhere in between: light moderation only to be applied when necessary.

And, the other side benefit of that 'light moderation' mantra is that I gotta be honest: these forums truthfully are not that much work at all! Total "pet project," and a nice mental break from my rather stressful 'real job.'

At least as far as my *own* vision of where I want to take this community is concerned, the only thing we're obviously still missing here is 24/7 access ... and I've got that figured out (at least on paper) too. So I'm happy with where things are going.

In summary, a different approach, but intentionally so.

yeah, I know what you mean, but I'm not talking about moderating with an Iron Fist or strong arming members. A forum can be loose and still have the proper mods in place to take care of certain situations.

I find it annoying when a subject gets off-topic, then gets lost out in left field and never gets back home (on subject).
Also when members try to discredit other's good opinions just to over stress theirs.
Or how about when personal attacks occur?

But hey, these are just some things I have noticed, no biggie.
I'm sure the "report button" will work fine.
