To hear that all these little disney channel "musicians" are what people are calling rock these days makes me sad. To call that rock is to defame so many great musicians.

Oh, and the most disturbing thing of all of this...it's not just 8-14 year olds...even some people in my high school like her!

i feel your pain. It's unfortunate what todays "music" has become. I think it all began when music started being called an INDUSTRY. Popular music today like Hannah Montana is exactly that, an industry designed for profit. it seems that none of these pop stars like to write music.. i mean whats the point! its such a waste of time when you can be making money with someone writing music for you! its sad, we are going through dark times.. but dont fret! lets all correct this with our fender gear. rock on.. the old fashion way

Luclovesfender, you made one of the strongest point on this thread. It's sad how people call it music. And when little girls start playing guitar cuz of her, it's good. But not good if all they wanna play is Best of Both Worlds.
Seriously, they should be listening to the TRUE rockers (and Blues players). B.B. KIng, Muddy Waters, Hendrix, Clapton, the list goes on. I am so thankful that there are more true artists than today's 'profit musicians'. I hope i am right. Even Yngwie Malmsteen would be better to listen too (most overrated guitarist on my list). I hope she does become a country singer that sings for herself and for the fans, not for the money.

I am getting post happy.

In a sense, you're kinda saying that bands like Metallica and Pantera are getting beat out by freakin' Disney Channel? I'm not disagreeing with you, it, sadly, seems to be somewhat true. :?

^ Well the target audience is much bigger. Sure there's lots of Metallica fans and such, but they don't have lines of bookbags, notebooks, etc, etc. If she's making money, then so be it. If I were a parent, I'd like to expose my children to rock, and this may be a way to lead into it without all our showing them rock, but who knows. I on the other hand, was headbanging to Metallica videos when i was 3 or 4 (I have a video somewhere, I'd love to find) She surely knows how to make money and attract attention, so you can't blame her for being successful.

I guess I'll just repost what I put on the Jonas Bros. thread and just make a few changes...

Let me make this completely clear.
Hannah Montana is a singer for children.
She is for preteen girls who want to be pretty and famous like her.
She sounds just like any other new, modern artist you can find on the Much channel.
Her success comes from the fact that she is fashionable and on a stage singing songs about her highschool boy problems and the like.
She will spark and fade like any other trend for small girls.

That is exactly what I think. My sister, a ten year old, loves her.
So do all of her friends. It's nothing. N-o-t-h-i-n-g.

Pretty much all the teen popper lip synch. It's the industry standard. Been that way for decades.

I got news for ya...Miley has no effect on rock music at all. Rockers don't pay attention to the pre-teen pop rock. Do you honestly think Eric Clapton let's Miley influence his music in the least? He barely knows she exsists

I know, but when ever somebody says that they like rock, then they'll say Hannah Montana then everybody picks a fight with me that it is rock and not pop
