I don't know what people get out of her... I have a feeling, that she will be (if she isn't already) one of those people who will let the who hollywood thing get to her and turn into someone she wishes she wasn't. Who I Am Hates Who I've Been sort of thing...I'm hope i'm wrong, for her sake. But really, I heard about her clothing line...but a guitar now? gee....

I seem to remember a young girl name LeAnn Rimes who had her first hit at 13 and now she is 25 and sold close to 40 millions albums. Billy Ray has just taught his daughter Miley how to fill the bank account while you can.

I believe that Hanna Montana is morphing into Avril Lavigne.

So I guess it's only a matter of time before she has a signature Fender (or Squier).

Let's hope she doesn't turn into another hollywood socialite wreck. She may be on her way after the vainty fair thing and those cell phone pictures that appeared on the internet she caught a lot of flak for.

My 9 year old is obsessed with Hannah Montana AKA (Miley Cyurs) I took her to the Hannah concert back in Dec. it was your typical pop show, lot of dancing, broadway lights, singing, and screaming girls. I will give her props, she is a crowd entertainer....She does play guitar, i was shocked, in her encore, she preformed 2 solo acoustic numbers, they were pretty simple 3 and 4 chord songs.

I have been teaching my daughter guitar for about 2 years now, between Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers...that is all she wants to learn.

It's easy to knock manufactured pop acts like Mylie Cyrus (Hannah Montana) and all the other Disney stable (remember, both Justin Timberlake and Brittney began with Disney too). In general I discourage my kids (gently) from kid acts that are being spoon-fed material by professional pop songwriters and given TV shows form which to hawk albums and concerts. Both kids pretty much have it figured out (at 11 and 15 they're a little older) that any cute kid with a good singing voice and some acting chops can do the Disney-pop deal, and so my kids tned to like adult bands that are actually responsible for doing something besides showing up and singing or acting as they're told. Even on Nickolodeon, there are sometimes legit rock acts, like the Hives, who my 11-year-old son is now heavily into.

All that said, if the Disney-pop princesses end up getting kids (especially girls) interested in playing guitar, some good will come of it. There's lots of worse music out there.

My sister likes her, so I hear and see her quite often. I think she's made a good move, using Hannah Montana rather than her real name (for the most part, anyway).

That way, a few years from now when she wants to move on to an audience larger than the "Female, 8-14" demographic, she has a (fairly) new identity to work with.

She definitely is talented, but she is a Disney Channel performer. Give her a few years, and I can see her moving into the adult music arena.

She does a duet with her dad (Billy Ray Cyrus) on his newest record, and it's fairly good.

OK, I feel like I need to make the point that she does play the guitar, but I don't think that she's honestly all that good. :?

To hear that all these little disney channel "musicians" are what people are calling rock these days makes me sad. To call that rock is to defame so many great musicians.

Oh, and the most disturbing thing of all of this...it's not just 8-14 year olds...even some people in my high school like her!
