Should be interesting to see what it goes for. I'm a BIG fan of Jimi but, I don't think I would go that far.

Somone may but it then give to Fender to study and have them make some repro's of it and make the money it cost back on the profit of the repro sales. It is a wonderful world we live in and if you got the money to spend you can make a lot in return Just most of us don't have the money to spend and sadly I am one of them. But to dream Ha!

I have a sneaking suspicion that it's unplayable...

So if Fender made a replica of it, you would essentially be buying a burnt, Strat-shaped piece of wood.

If they wanted a replica of it before being burnt, they could just make a 1965 reissue.

They are saying around 250,000 pounds which I think at todays rate that is 500,000 dollars.

well they say it could be the most expensive guitar ever, and the most expensive guitar was $2,000,000 you'd be paying that much for a burnt collection of wood plastic and magnents...

somehow this doesnt' seem smart to me...

It doesn't seem smart to me either. After being in a garage for all those years what damage the fire didn't do the climate in the garage finished off.
I seriously doubt if it is playable at all.

yeah, it only because JIMI HENDRIX set it on fire... so.. if Jimi took a taco coverd it in crap and put it in the oven to the point of burning, would it be worth $2,000,000?

When the check book is still up - why not buy a Jimi Strat that he never wanted to go up in flames - look at this:

525 000 $. Maybe you'll get a new set of strings wth it if you ask nicely.

Do you mean like if Mugatu took a crap in tin foil, put fish hooks on the end and sold them to Queen Elizabeth as earings?

But seriously, it has to be the history behind the guitar. As one post mentions earlier, it was a historic performance in which that guitar was burned. Not many people (at least rich eccentric ones) could pass up owning a piece rock 'n roll history
