There are plenty of people who disagree with me in this but I always try to discourage kids from getting an electric as a first guitar. I try to steer noobs to the acoustic guitar. Less time spent trying to get a certain sound and more time spent on actually learning to play, strengthening fingers, etc.

I agree, but for a slightly different reason. With an acoustic, it's easy to play songs. And up until recently, you'd find one in every home, so no need to lug a guitar and amp, or spend time setting up. The social aspect of an acoustic guitar is near unparalleled. Grab, play, sing along, enjoy.

For those who take music more seriously and want to become solo guitarists, I recommend starting with classical guitar, because it teaches far more theory - a fundament you can build on later. And it makes switching over easier. Many of the greatest solo electric guitar players (like Malmsteen and Blackmore) started out with classic nylon strings.
Well, I started with nylon strings as a kid (first with a uke and then with a guitar - both that my father brought home). Then a jumbo six string steel until I folked around as a Dylan fan having bought a 12 string steel to add twice the pain (but, not as much ouch as my blistered bleeding drummer's hands gifted me). :P I finally brought in my own electric having said goodbye to the others (for now). I sure ain't no Malmsteen or Blackmore, and I can't even walk in their shadows."Dang it all". But, I can admit that my digits got a workout.

To correct the above about the Fuse software not running on new pc's. I have mine running on a windows 10 device.

Learn to read. What I said was:
"the software doesn't work on many modern computers"
The "m" in "many" is significant.

Anyhow, adjust your DPI to 170 or higher, and tell me how FUSE works.
It does not support high DPI scaling, and the bottom of the scaled display disappears below the non-resizeable window.

And because it's a Silverlight application, compatibility settings you make for FUSE only affects the splash pop-up, not the app itself.
I believe the lack of scaling support and new displays having high DPI was one of the reasons why Microsoft deprecated Silverlight a couple of years ago.

I did notice a difference changing from windows 8 to 10. The program no longer fits in the window but is easily expanded to view all of it or just click full screen. Resolution is standard 1920x1080

It's a shame that Fender never released an iOS or official android app and probably will reserve this for the new Amps

Yes, but what is your DPI setting?

(If doing typesetting or picture work on the machine, it's important that it's set correctly, so a 10 pt font on screen is the same as a 10 pt font printed out, or an image on the screen is the same size as an image printed out. Or, if you're just old and can't read flyspeck, it's also helpful if it's changed from the default on modern high-DPI displays.)

Can also change the display settings in Windows.
A higher resolution will fit more into a window.
If that slows the computer down you can reduce the number of colours used to compensate.

Edited to add:

On the other hand, one could always keep the same resolution and colours and then downsize to a smaller screen.

We used to have 4" screens in the control room. :D

I'm not too hung up on the Bluetooth thing, but it would be nice to see a new line of modeling amps with more robust hardware and priced accordingly.

Fender Mustang Pro™.

I'd be interested; but, for me it would have to be more acceptable in build and sound than the current crop in order for me to move away from my Mustang IV as far as value and cost is concerned. That is not to say I wouldn't now supplement it with another (including a tube or hybrid) amp. Besides, for what the Mustang is and what I could get from selling it, it is going to stay with me and I'm good with that.

Competition may lead this race in the future; however, my guess is that modeling pedals like Line 6's Helix will become cheaper, better, and more plentiful sooner than later. The downside is that many features of these top end pedals are presently expensive, and they will still be a considerable investment even with a reduction in cost (especially if features continue to be added). Simplicity has its benefits, and yet history shows never say never. :D
