So far, I haven't seen any news that makes me want to untie the coin sack. More Chinese stuff with blinkenlights isn't doing it for me.

The yawn factor seems pretty high this year.

What's the big deal?

Buy a butterscotch Tele, take off the high E string, beat the livin' $hit out of it for thirty or forty years, and there you have it.

That was an April fool's joke.

Low E. And replace the bridge pup with an upside down humbucker. And gouge out the 17th fret marker.

With the real Micawber, I think it's so infused now that you get more money if grinding it up and putting it in dime bags than selling it as is.

I'm waiting for the first production guitar that will have sealed cigarette burns on the headstock, I definitely think the burns change the wood tone for the better.
FSB

That'll work for me since I haven't had a smoke in decades and it might bring back memories to cease my cravings. :D

I was just watching the video for those new, compact heads. 50 watts, 1.1 pounds with something called a Nutube in it. That would be ideal for me if I have to do double duty on guitar, besides playing bass. I'm hoping I don't, because it would be a pain in the arse to haul double the amount of gear for gigs, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do.

Yeah, the nicotine will give you more of a "brown sound," apparently. :P

I quit smoking back in 2004, but sometimes I still miss it, dangerous at it is. I think those things are probably more addictive than smack is. It wouldn't surprise me.

Just think how much of a brown sound you could get if you added a tobacco sunburst in regular or large size and then added some filters. :P

I'm in agreement there. The reason I never went back is that, as a two pack a day habit, it caused serious withdrawals that had me vomiting, fever and chills, and shakes for weeks like other addictive drugs. I swore never to repeat another withdrawal that was so hard on my body. That was my wake up call. Most others never get to that point. Besides, that's s lot of money that will buy some nice gear from NAMM.

I just looked up the events on your link, Mike. One of the ones I'd be interested in is Women In The Music Products Industry Happy Hour. I know Mrs. FSB wouldn't want me to go, so I'll pass; but, I'm betting that after awhile the tunes from that event would be pretty funky.

For musicians, NAMM is like a continuation of being a kid in a toy store during Christmas, I think. :P
