Hahaa, yep, me again with another forum suggestion, sorry, I don't mean to be a Little Miss Smartypants! (I won't petition this time though!)

Anyway, what are the chances that we could have a custom avatars option? Nothing offensive of course, and I suppose Fender gear only if you want your instruments for it, but the option to use a pic that better represents yourself and/or your playing gear/style. :?:

It'd just be great to have our own pics, put our favourite Fender as our av or something, and helpful too that posters wouldn't all look so alike. On all the forums I post on I tend to remember people mostly by their avatar, their forum 'face'; it's harder to keep track of who's who when there are so many identical twins and triplets!

And, well, I gotta admit it, I just couldn't find an avatar in there that looked the same as my Strat!

I think thats a great idea. Ever since I got my jazz bass I have wanted it to be my avatar. I agree that it would be alot easier to tell people apart if they had different avatars.

One problem about users uploading their own avatars is that most people do no have the proper knowledge and or software to resize avatars to a proper size. something like 60pixels by 60 pixels. The problem is you have new users joining the forum and then having a 3 inch by 3 inch avatar.

Forums generally either automatically resize larger avatars or simply disallow them.... Instructions could easily be added to forum rules, and web-based photo hosting sites such as Photobucket have automatic avatar resizing option at the click of a button.

And if they still can't work them, they can just choose from the existing selection of fine Fender avatars! :)

Hello FrankieP,

I would, of course, like my own avatar.

But someone would have to analyze
each one to make sure
it's not nasty in one way or another,
and no doubt someone will come up with
some hidden thoughts or messages.
That would be a lot of work, impleminting
and maintaining the avatars

But maybe in the future we'll have
more choices.

Something to look forward to.

Cheers.

*shrugs* Hmm.. I don't see there being too much of a "what do you see in the ink spot" need to analyze every person's avatar for hidden context..

I think that as with the extension of opening hours it'd come back to the forum managing itself: If you see someone with an inappropriate avatar, report them!

Many of the "other" music forums allow custom avatars and I really dig the "Fender Only" avatars here on this forum and feel that it's something that makes it even more special.

If anything, I would like to see more "Fender Only" avatars to choose from  , although I'm satisfied with mine and still proud to be part of this community.

It would be nice if Fender would expand the selection - like adding Squier guitars, and more models of Fender gear - like the new amps, and of course more Fender guitars.

I'll 2nd (or 3rd, or whatever) that!
A Fender forum needs Fender avatars IMHO.
