I was just wondering if any one here is a member of UG, if you are, wich forum do you think is better this one or UG. I think UG has alot more information its just to hard to find. Fender is definatly more friendly and well moderated. Tell me what you think. I pick Fender :D

I think it is a bad idea to mention specific forums and single them out as either good or bad on a completely different forum.

That being said, I will say this. Of the other forums that I have participated in, this is the most helpful and well organized/moderated forum on the Internet. It is like driving a Cadillac after driving a covered wagon.

The amount of unbridled immaturity on the "others" is just too overwhelming.

I am a Fender Forum user for life.

Brad, you have done a great thing here. Hats off to you!

I've been on UG for the last 5yrs or so. There's a lot more info there, but too many postings sometimes. And, too many cocky beginners.

One thing I DO like much better about UG is that it doesn't "close" down at night or on the weekends, which is pretty bad in my opinion since that's the main time most working musicians CAN post things. I let the moderators here know that, but whatever.

There are also some coding issue with this Fender forum. It doesn't carry sessions across the site so something it keeps signing you out, or you have to sign out, then in again for certain things. Very poor usability there, and I told them that as well.

Although I love Fender amps and electrics, I think their acoustics are junk. I'll post here for most Fender related stuff, and to UG for everything else.

They're handy for tabs, but I've never tried their forums. I imagine they'd be large, and pretty full-on. This one's lovely and civilised, smaller and friendly. Anything without a cogent focus (such as brand) is likely to be pretty massive and unruly unless strongly managed, I guess.

This is a fun, classy, hip place with usually well-mannered, caring, helpful folks.

I go on this site to get info on Fender guitars. It would be silly of me to expect everyone on the site to be a pro player or repair tech. But I do get some very valuable ideas and tech info, tho it may not always be accurate. I do love the trading of info from like-minded Strat and Tele lovers. UG is good too.

Well said, Bill and I agree completely.

I'll say this:

Theres a broader spread of information over on UG, a true wealth of information, but you have to sort through a lot of BS. There are some great threads there (Zeppelin thread, Jimi thread, SG thread), but the demographic is completely different. Its a huge board with lots of immature posters 'off the leash'.

TBH I prefer it over here, its better moderated, the people are friendlier, less elitist, more mature (usually ;)) and I'd say are better informed, and its definately #1 for anything fender related.

Much <3 to all guitarists tho, regardless of the boards they frequent!
