It's been quite a while since I've posted on here but, I've been too busy enjoying my newest toy . It's a 2003 , MIK ,Fender DG-22S , which is a solid top in Cherryburst . I bought this on E-Bay for only 80 bucks . Can you believe that ? The only issue with it was that the stock bridge saddle was filed down too low, so I went and bought a new, Fender bridge saddle for it. The tone on this is amazing for a Fender Acoustic and it stays in tune for days. It has gold plated hardware and also came with a HS case and dehumidifier as well. It's a keeper !

That the bridge had been filed down so much might be due to "bridge lift", where the area around the bridge including the bridge itself lifts up due to the string pull. The reflections in your photo seems to confirm this.

If so, that is likely the reason for the low price. Repairing this (e.g. by planing and re-gluing the bridge plate and/or braces inside the guitar) is likely going to cost as much as the guitar is worth.

This problem is not uncommon in low-to-mid range acoustics, due to how wood ages. Check with a straightedge how flat the top is around the bridge. A tiny bit of bulging is acceptable. If it's bad, you may still get some good playing out of it by changing to lighter strings.

Arth , there is no sign of the bridge lifting. believe me, I checked for that contrary to what you may see in the photo . The bridge is fine. When I took out the stock bridge saddle and replaced it with the new one , you could tell that it was obviously filed down to some degree . The original was causing fret buzz in the upper registers which explained the low price my friend. When I installed the new saddle, the buzz was gone. It now plays fine and sounds great with zero issues . I also checked out the truss and that is fine as well. I do believe that the previous owner thought the action was too high and went to uneccessary extremes to lower it, without going to a qualified tech . I'm 57 and have been playing for 45 years now and doing my own setups for over 15 without any problems.

Nice guitar. Sounds like you got a good deal on it, too! 8)

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Judging by the frets, it's a 7 tone equal temperament guitar (7-EDO), or equal heptatonic.
That would be awesome for playing Thai music, but is usable for rock too! :)

Congrats everyone.
