That's terrible. Rick was a fine guitarist and human being. Condolences to family and friends.

Here's hoping 2017 will be a better year in the category of lost musicians.

Sad news.
Quo were the masters of boogie rock, and largely underappreciated. Rick Parfitt was a great guitar player, and it wasn't about the number of chords, but how he played them.
I picked up a Status Quo song book a couple of years ago, and it was astonished at how many parts that sounded so easy were really not that easy at all. It takes talent to make what's difficult sound and look easy, and Parfitt had it in spades.
