I belong to other boards that are open 24 hours, every day, and they don't have the problems people here are worrying about.

With all due respect, though, how many users are registered on those boards? And are they corporate boards owned/operated by large, well-known companies? And are there e-mail campaigns sent to hundreds of thousands of individuals directing consumers to those boards? And are there publications in most major music retailers that indirectly lead consumers to those boards? Etc., etc. Not trying to downplay your argument here but this community is one of the fastest growing I've ever seen personally (if not THE fastest growing), and I think we're a far bigger target here than your standard fare.

I certainly understand the size of the membership & the corporate connection, etc. I also understand you're in charge, and so I appreciate that you're asking opinions of us. That's great. I was glad when the hours during the week got extended. Normally I couldn't post during the old hours.

Some Saturdays I wouldn't be posting, as I'd be bus doing stuff--either working around the house or out somewhere. But like I said before--on a lazy Saturday--it would be nice to come here for a visit, and see what's going on.

My main point was to add another perspective to those who are unsure about the way people will act on a weekend.

While my vote can still go either way I will add this: Why don't we do a trial weekend or two with a limited schedule for Saturday to see how it works and then go from there. I would think something like 9-3, 12-6, or something similar would give a decent reading on how it would go.

Definitely not a bad thought, Chet!

I also was pondering the idea that was suggested earlier of allowing registration during business hours only -- though I'm trying to envision myself stumbling across a board that had that requirement. Might be a little off-putting? Not as off-putting as the board being closed altogether, though, I suppose. :-)
The reason that I had mentioned not to allow enrollment on weekends was I think it would hold off some of the spambots from going on the attack and creating accounts to start tossing spam accross the board over a weekend. Also since this is a company sponsored board I think people would understand Monday to Friday enrollment. Any resonable thinking person would understand the reason behind such a policy. May hold off Spammers and Flamers frome creating an account just to let it rip.

Brad, What is the taget date that you are shooting for on the increase of Forum hours to Weekends?

As far as the report button goes. Will there be a list of things that are considered abuse? Obscenity? Spam? Malicious attacks on other members?

Thanks, Brad!! Was expecting another Monday morning of sitting at my work pc bored, reading old threads and being unable to reply because it's still yesterday over there. This change is fantastic, and thanks everyone too for your input. :D

I work on Sundays (really boring job) so this forum being open on the weekends is a lifesaver!

Thanks Brad!
