That is a classic recording. I was supposed to go to that show but at the last minute wasn't able to.

But I have the bootleg of his whole performance from that night. What a great talent.

Does any1 have a link or video to post of SRV playing Scuttle Buttin ?

Supposedly he opened a show w/ that song near the end of his glorious career. I absolutely LOVE that song!

RIP king of blues SRV

Man, was that a show...
I'm so damn sad and nostalgic today, a professor from high school I went to died and we went to the funeral today and now this song from Stevie. They will both live on in my mind...

Here's the tracklisting from that last fateful night. His playing is just electric, a great cd.

1-Intro
2-Collins Shuffle
3-The House is Rockin
4-Tightrope
5-The Things That I Used to Do
6-Let Me Love You Baby
7-Leave My Little Girl Alone
8-Pride and Joy
9-Wall of Denial
10-Rivera Paradise
11-Superstition
12-Couldn't Stand the Weather
13-Goin Down
14-Crossfire
15-Voodoo Chile
16-Sweet Home Chicago-this song is an all star jam, 16 plus mins long

Amazing guitar player. One thing that really impresses me is his ability to sing, play chords in perfect time simultaneously, and break into blistering lead without missing a beat. If you watch Clapton, who plays lead equal to or exceeding anyone in complexity and beauty, he won't play lead while singing but will strum chords in time and also has other guitar players backing him, and then sets up and does amazing lead. If you watch BB King, he will have a guitar player to back him playing chords, while BB plays the lead. Stevie Ray was like a one-man band. Doing it all at the same time and doing it well is really difficult.

saw BB King at Brookhaven Amphitheater with KWS and Joe Bonamassa
I remember him cracking a few jokes about not being able to sing and play at the same time, and I've seen a few interviews where Clapton says he's just like BB

Stevie played surf on the 1987 'Back To THe Beach' movie & CD, "Pipeline," a duet with Dick Dale.

I don't know how to post a link,,, but
there is a video of SRV sitting down
playing "Pipeline" on a double neck
guitar on youtube... Then his brother
Jimmie,,,comes,,, and stands behind
him,,, and plays the upper neck...

Part way through they switch necks...
A truly amazing video... Truly amazing
playing...

He became eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year and he did not get inducted. This year was The Dave Clark Five,Leonard Cohen, Gamble and Huff, Little Walter, John Couger Mellencamp, The Ventures, and Madonna. I no he was put into the Blues Hall of Fame many years ago though.
