Hey everyone, thanks for the kind words on the amp. I'm actually rather surprised at how good the thing sounds. As a matter of fact, Chet has been given the directive that if he doesn't like it, he will send it back to me! I've built quite a few amps, effects and other gadgets (including a few guitars in my time), and this thing is easily one of the coolest gadgets I've ever made.

The recordings (sloppy playing and all) really do the amp no justice. It's very responsive, and it has a very controllable feedback. All at just about a comfortable volume.

No pedals were used whatsoever. Just guitar into the amp.

BTW, front panel controls:
Clean/Mean switch
Gain (only available in Mean mode)
Volume
Tone

The power switch is on the side.

I have to admit, that I've avoided this thread topic because of the title, I thought that it had something to do with Rachel Ray or the likes, :? but wow...nice work and what a surprise to hear how good it sounds! 8)

Let me be the first to say that it's done. I just screwed the last couple of screws into it. I'll try to have it on it's way home in the next day or two.

Here are a few more pics . . .

Yeah, something that will give me the Gilmour and Clapton tone. That's not asking for much huh? I have a Boss ME-50 and a new Twin Reverb RI and a DG strat on order, Right now I'm using a MIA Deluxe Ash Strat. Should have bought a 57 twin or a Vibro King, the TR is clean, clean!!

One word . . . Hiwatt.

OK, kidding.

Please take this as my opinion only, and remember what they say about opinions.

I'm much more of a tube purist - a guitar straight into the amp kind of guy who believes you have to start with great tone before it'll sound good with anything added.

If your amp sounds great clean, why mess with it? A good clean amp is worth it's weight in lasagna. However, I find it extremely difficult to make a clean amp sound good dirty. IMHO, your best bet would be to invest in a second amp that was made to have a little grit to it, then push it over the edge with a little clean drive. That'll get you much closer to the tone you're looking for.

Yeah, I was reading that DG uses 6 Hywatt 100watt heads among tons of other gear and a computer or two on stage. The list of gear was a whole page long. Just think about all the settings on all of that stuff. Boogles the mind.

RedMax! Your amp kicks @$s! When Chet said that it was just a straight through shot I couldn't believe it! Now that being said, I just put a Tung Sol in my Blackheart and it sounds pretty gritty itself!

If I am ever in the market for a custom amp, you are the guy I am gonna call. Can you make something in a Dutch Oven?

LOL, yeah, I'm all about using stuff from the kitchen on my amps. Here's what it sounds like around my house.

Wife: "Honey, have you seen the crockpot?"

Me: (hesitatant) "Our crockpot?"

Wife: "No, the Pope's crockpot!"

Me: (sheepishly) "Um, yeah. It's hooked up to my Marshall cabinet in the garage"

Wife: "Wash it when you're done with it!"

HAHAHAHA! Well at least you got an amicable response! I would be in the dog house!

Again, great job on the amp!
