my mom died of breast cancer in december 2009 and lived with it for 9 years. with modern medicine it's amazing how long a person can live with cancer and how often it's cured. i'm glad to hear that you got treatment early and i'm sure you'll be fine.

Thank you Ceri and Greeneyesj -

You don't realize how much your positive comments mean to me!

I'm so sorry for your loss, Greeneyesj. :(

I've been in a funk after my appointment today, but I know that there will be good days and also bad days.

I REALLY appreciate all of the Fender community members who have taken the time to post a few words of hope in this thread. Life is full of surprises, some good and some not so good.

Thanks to all and I am very grateful for all who have shown support.

Mike, I just wanted to let you know that I had my consultation for my colonoscopy yesterday. I am having it done on the 8th of August. It was your influence that helped me make the decision. I appreciate you spreading the word. We can never be too careful or take our health too lightly!

Keep the faith!

Thanks Bill and best wishes on your procedure.

The meds that they have me on are making me feel like I've been run over by a Mack truck.

To say that I'm tired wouldn't even be close to describing how I feel today. Still, I remain positive and take the bad days and hope for some good days soon.

Mike, I know that you will be just fine, just keep up the positive attitude. It's as important as the medical treament. We humans have not begun to realize the power of the mind.
I'm going to do the same as Bill did and we can thank you for inspiring us and maybe saving our lives. Thanks Brother!

Now there's someone who knows their "Babylon 5." In keeping with that line of thought, preview your posts and keep them upbeat and positive.
We all know that 'The Force' has two paths. Be supportive and avoid the 'dark side'.

You have all been marvelous.

Best wishes to both of you guys on your procedures. It's easy to postpone "the test" for obvious reasons, but I'll tell you, the test is nothing compared to having a lengthy chunk of your 'inards' and some lymph nodes cut out and then going through the scans, implants and chemo.

I'll be thinking about you guys and please keep us posted. Best wishes!

Here's another "plug" (bad pun I know)- for getting a colonoscopy, especially after you hit 50. I had my first in '06 at 54- yeah I held off. THank God, I was clean- not even a polyp. every 2-3 years minimum should be the routine. We men hold off doing stuff like this for too, too long. GUYS!! get yer butts checked!!
Mike keep hanging in there, you are a victory testimony in the making.

Mike,

Even though the treatment has been slamming you at times, you are a trooper for still keeping us all updated.

Many folks have already been praying for you... every day I sit in a moment of silence and send healthy thoughts your way. Guess that's another form of prayer... keep the faith my friend.

Thanks again for the well wishes. I'm finding that you don't go day-to-day, but rather hour-to-hour.

I'm still positive that this a curative form of cancer and I remain steadfast in my determination to beat this horrible disease.

I logged on today and just read Brad's thread (sticky) and it made my day! I'd just like to say thank you to all who have been supporting me with positive comments and well wishes and especially a HUGE thank you to Brad, Fender and this Fender Community which I'm proud to be a part of.

It's very humbling, to say the least and I'd like to reiterate what Brad has stated in his thread about this being strictly voluntary and I don't want anyone to feel obligated to contribute.

I'm hoping that by posting my experiences since my diagnosis and now, in undergoing chemotherapy, that this may help others in this great musical community who may find themselves or loved ones in the same or a similiar situation.

I know that some of you have been inspired enough to schedule procedures for yourselves to be checked and that proves to me that by sharing my experiences, it has made some impact and I wish you the best on your results.

I will continue to update this thread as my chemo treatments continue and hope that it will provide some helpful information to this very sincere, caring, supportive and professional community of musicians and music people.

Sincerely,
-Mike

I am going to a take a liberty in this currently enlightened state to address a rather ticklish subject, because it embraces a host of complex issues.

Those of you who use tobacco products, in any form, are strongly urged to pursue a cessation program to help you terminate this use. Nicotine addiction, from a neurophysiological standpoint, is a chemical addiction similar to anything elso you can point to which you would otherwise deem unacceptable. The same biochemical mechanisms come into play as if you were abusing narcotics, for example, and the same pathways to health have to be explored in order to terminate this dependency.

All the very best to Mike this day.

Doc.
