I just learned recently that they took phospho-soda off the market. Something about kidney issues. I thought that did a really great bowel prep. The current stuff gets the job done but takes nerves of steel.

Personally, I go off solids 48 hours before and on to what is termed 'full fluids' in medical jargon, avoiding anything 'red' or containing milk. So its Jello's and a variety of clear fluid protein supplements. Less of a cleanout when the time comes.

I usually get an A+ in bowel prep :!: :P

Hey Mike: only just caught up with the latest action on this thread.

Inappropriate, but I was giggling all through that account of colonoscopy you posted. Especially as I've seen it at close hand: there is a history in my wife's family that means she has to have a colonoscopy every couple of years, so I know just what that's all about!

Apparently, she is usually conscious throughout the procedure and watches what's going on round back live on TV. I don't escape: she brings home a DVD with her innards in full color for me to view later the same evening.

That's kinda more intimate than I expected marriage to get...!

Anyhow. To anyone who might need this procedure and is worried about it, I can say that aside from the bathroom aspect it gives my wife no problems in the slightest. Nothing to worry about.

Mojo coming your way as always, Mike.

Cheers fella - C

Before propofol, while mildly sedated, I'd watch the action as well, but you can't maintain a patient at that light a level with that agent. Thus I have seriously considered offering my gastroenterologist the gift of an HD Blue Ray recorder so I can take a copy of the procedure home with me an watch it over and over again on my 61" LCD. Some beer, pretzels, popcorn, and a couple of 6 ft Italian sub sandwiches.....man....gives new meaning to the old adage....."up your's , dude!" :P

I had my first follow-up colonoscopy yesterday and the results were clean. The doc told me that the surgeon did a great job and that I didn't even have one polyp, all was clean.

:)

I'm now on the 2-year 'plan' as well, Ceri. I was also awake and partially conscious during the procedure, but no video.

Thanks for the mojo!

I just got in from a memorial service for a friend I met during chemo that didn't make it. :(

I had a message on my box informing me that my next PET scan is scheduled for April 12th with a follow up oncologist visit on April 16th.

I'm hoping that all goes well, but as anyone who has been down this road knows...after a cancer diagnosis there is always a 20% chance of re-occurence and you wonder if this is the test that it shows up on.

Kind of eerie about these two events both happening on the same day.

I am and will continue to include you in my prayers, Mike. My mother was a survivor of leukemia, a type which almost always killed those who had it at the time. Her case was even documented in medical books. But the important thing to remember here is that she did indeed survive it. Also I would like to point out that, in her lifetime she was able to see such advancements in medical technology that, the very same leukemia that she had to go through chemotherapy for, can now be treated with pills.

You hold on, be strong and always keep positive thoughts in your head and spirit. Feel the love and support all of us Fender Forum folks are sending your way. And please, continue to keep us posted. God bless you, sir.

Miami Mike, I wasn't aware of this health problem you HAD, and it made me a bit sad to find out about it, but I have this little voice in my head, or wherever it is, this little intuition if you like, I listen to when something like this comes up. And I can tell you, from reading your posts before I knew this, I don't think anything bad can happen to you. So, I stand with those here praying for you, and wishing you to play this through with your guitar!
As long as you are satisfied with yourself, and keep most of your needs satisfied, I believe you will be ok. Just do what makes you happy!

Goran

Thanks again to all of you. Cancer is a horrible disease and keeping a positive attitude through the surgeries and chemo along with the wonderful support here is what led me to this point.

I've also started helping out by doing benefit performances for the 'Kids With Cancer" programs. Dick Dale is my inspiration....he has been fightin' it as well and seems to be doing just fine.

When Niki won the Dick Dale guitar, he asked me if he could give it to me, maybe get Dick to sign it and auction for the cancer foundation, but I told him that he won it and deserved it. Still, it was a generous noble gesture and he's a first class stand up guy in my book!

Now, I'd like for this thread to drop back into the archives and if anything changes in 8 weeks at my next scan, I'll re-visit it.

Thanks again to all!
Sincerely,
Mike
