That bears repetition - cos I can't put it better!

Congratulations Mike: that's the best possible news. Good work, guy.

Here's to you!

Wilbur, from those of us who have been in a similar situation to the one you are in right now, our deepest concern is on its way to you from distant places at this moment. We're thinking of your brother and you and wishing the best for you.

I wish you strength.

Ditto: That's a common course and a very rough road. I'm sure we all share Ceri's thoughts in this.

Hi Mike,

Never look back. When I have fatigue and chemobrain problems or the stuff I developed like glucose intolerance, fibromyalgia, or whatnot, I just slog through it. It's a small price to pay for overcoming cancer. Believe and know that it's over. Soon, you'll be bitching about side-effects with the rest of us.

Many have posted about relatives and loved ones who are suffering from horrible diseases and situations in this thread and I sincerely hope that your results are as good or better than mine.

I now have my surgery scheduled for Monday, June 1st, to remove the mediport and tube that connects to my jugular vein in my neck.

I'm hoping to feel like a new person by this time next week!

Thanks again for all who speak from having been there, knowing others who have been there and help others who are there now along with the kind and compassionate musicians from this fine community!!!

Today I had my mediport removed. I had a decision to go with conscious sedation or just the local numbing. I asked the surgeon which he preferred and why.

He said 90% of his patients do NOT get the conscious sedation and they have no problem and walk out of here after the procedure is finished. The other 10% have to be wheeled up to a room and wait for another two hours before they can be released.

I opted to just go with the local numbing. The only pain I felt was the needle pokes into my chest to numb the area. After a little less than one hour it was out and I was given instructions on care for the next several days.

It's just now starting to feel sore/uncomfortable, so tylenol should calm that down and I'll probably rest awhile on the couch. It's not having it out so much that I feel good about, but more for what it represents!

Thanks once again to all for your continued support! :)

Ah, there is nothing like the feeling of freedom after being unplugged. One of many milestones that will almost make all of it's usages disappear.

Great news! Enjoy your new modification :D.

Mike,

That is outstanding news! I am glad that you are alright and that you are at home recuperating! This is truly an occasion for celebration! So I am thinking, which is always a dangerous thing for me,

Road Trip to Miami for a block party!!!

Dude! Just think of the epic jam session we would have! You won't need to hire a band, you would have thousands of musicians at your disposal! Shoot I could be down there in a matter of hours! You just say the word! :)

Mike, it has been a long hard battle, but your determination and courage and God's grace have pulled you through! Congrats my friend! I am so happy for you!
