Two buds have them.

Not impressed at all. To be picky and small-minded...

...all volume and no tone.

But then, 'am a clean, melodic player, so 'am not qualified to judge this product fairly.

i've just read recently that there were some older ones from a long while ago that were called lead 12 and lead 15 i believe. and that they are much better then the MG series ones that are out now. is this true.

Now you are talking, dude! Yes that's true, there were older mini-stacks based on the UK-made Lead 12 amp. When you started this thread, I was tempted to post that you should just look for a Lead 12 combo amp. And here you are mentioning it!

Those '80s Marshall Lead 12 (model 5005) combos were made in the UK and have a single 10" Celestion speaker in an open back configuration. They are a great little single-channel, no nonsense, amp (no reverb!). Billy Gibbons and I are long-time owners/users and we can't recommend it enough. I've used it for practices and for small gigs. It's got nice distortion at low volumes and is really great cranked. I've never had it full blast (dimed), but I've had it "working" and the sound fools a lot of people!

I don't know if the speaker configuration of the Lead 12 mini-stack has as good a sound as the Lead 12, but since the mini-stack is kind of cheesy, just get a Lead 12.

The Lead 15 may be just as good, I don't know, having never used one.

I had what was either a Lead 12 or Lead 15(don't remember) back in the early/mid '90s that had 12" Celestions in both cabs. This thing was SWEET! :D Had to sell it due to needing money BAD. I sure wish I could find one of these babies as these new mini-stacks I don't care for at all.

A few months ago, a Lead 12 was listed on my local Craig's List.

I got excited thinking that I was going to have a second one (for a spare), but the dude never replied to my email. :x
