Looking for some help with the ID (Year + model) of this steel and amp. My dad had these and I think the Steel goes back to the 50’s? Any help on the value? I am not commercially posting here – I just want to be informed - Much appreciated! Condition is excellent – original box/table and there is a pedal but it seems to be another manufacturer Not Fender

Likely a bit before that - the roman numeral inlays puts it at around 1948-49.

They're not incredibly valuable, although a T8 (triple eight) from the early days is going to fetch a bit more than the more common doubles. A couple of thousand if the electronics are original is my guess, but not being a steel guy, I may be off. If you can find the case, no matter how beat up it is, it adds to the value.

It looks to be a Custom Triple 8. The string through pickups would be some of the earliest, so maybe late 40's.

For help finding out a value, drop these guys a line, they have some real experts on steels!

http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/index.ph ... 6b5a52d4ff

Give them a few more pics, close ups of the pickups and any numbers that appear on it, and one or two from underneath and at least one of the case inside and out.

Good Luck

T2

You guys nailed it; the triple 8 Custom w/ Walnut finish was made from 49-51. If it was a K&F it would really be worth some heavy cash, but it is still a solid early collectible. Not so much sought after for playability. Very cool piece of history though and looks to be in great shape. The Custom was a non-pedal model and a three leg model was optional. It came in blonde or walnut.

The pedal looks to be a Sho-Bud volume pedal.
