I can't say what's the best instrumental guitar song ever, I'll just name a few of the ones I like to play.
sleep walk...santo & johnny
walk don't run..... ventures
pipeline................ventures
tequila................. the champs (I think)
peter gun/ hatari ..... Henry Mancini (I blend both songs together)

Yes, the Champs did 'Tequila' and FYI: two of the guys in the band were Seals & Crofts. Actually, the rhythm & chords were inspired by Bo Diddly. (So I understand) However, the Ventures also did Tequila as they covered Pipeline by the Sufaris, as well as Santo & Johnny's Sleepwalk and many other great instrumentals.

I'm sure someone said this before, but I'll say it again:

Just a note to one & all:
The word is spelled instrumental, not insturmental. Apparently the r & u got switched.

I know some people may not care about spelling, grammar and proper English, but I know when I forget to use spell check and find such an error I feel stupid. Many people consider such foe-paws (LOL) as moronic. It's your projected persona.... you make your own icon-avatar, good or bad, (whether you like it or not), in other people's minds.

[ A-Hem! FYI: It's really "faux pas" for the correct spelling. ]

I love SRV's Little Wing, but the one that hits me hardest is:

Adagio - Yngwie Malmsteen

Go check it out. He does it on the G-3 DVD - it's the quiet one with just him and the keyboard player. 8)

So many to go at but I've thought of another one.
' She's A Woman ' off Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow album.
Very tricky to play but then again most of his are.
