I know this may be the wrong place but I recently got a Champ 12 Black Knob (for $35!!!!!) that works, sounds awesome after I replaced the tubes, and I'm trying to date it. I've got the serial number: L0607375 and the EIA number is EIA606-625. Man! It's almost impossible to find out about these little guys and I'd sure like to know when it was made. I'm guessing 1986, based off of the EIA but it's got made in America all over it and I didn't think they ever built these in the states. It only has a small PCB for the controls, the rest it point-to-point wired.
If I'm breaking the rules, I apologize but I seriously can't find anything about this dude. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED! Thanks...... Erich

Do you talk about Silverface Champ ?
Silver faceplate and black knob

Picture will help and for more answer post it to Guitars amplifiers section.
More expert there.

Did you see your amp here ?

Ok, It is a "Champ 12", but has black knobs 'vintage' (like my '60's Princeton) grille cloth. The control plate (face plate) is black. It essentially looks just like this one, but with black knobs and silver grille. http://ampwares.com/amplifiers/fender-champ-12/
EVERY Champ 12 I see dates from 87 - 91 but I can't find any information on the USA made 'black knob' version. I'm at work but I'll post some close up pics of the thing when I get home tonight. BEAR IN MIND: I haven't done ANYTHING to it, yet, so it's a bit rough.... THANKS! Erich
