The serial number on the front of the headstock will tell you the year. And, yes it is a Strat of some sort.

It's a 1987 strat neck Made in USA...... Do you know if it belongs to the body shown in the pictures?

Thanks, by authentic are you saying the neck matches the body year and belongs to it?

I was wondering if this was a vintage body as in an actual 1950's body with newer pickups? I know from a note I found that at one time my dad had the 1968 B Strat neck on this body and wrote something like "it's about as sweet a strat as you can get". but I no longer have that neck. I think the pots are original but original to what year I dunno.

I know my dad a lotta pickups in a drawer somewhere but someone may of stole them from me because I couldn't find them over the weekend but may or may not possibly have the originals somewhere.

TW, by authentic I meant a real Fender Stratocaster body. Not sure if the neck belongs to that body. Vintage, 1950's another question mark. You have an excellent body for your new guitar. Post photos of your progress?

ok.... Sounds like my best bet is to take it to the local shop that put the texas special pickups in back in 1992.. Along with the note I found, I also found a receipt where they did add the pickups and noted that they left the original pots in it (even has the employees name that did the work). I know they won't remember this guitar from nearly 25 years ago but may be able to get a better look than what I can see or post here and definitely know more than me.

Thanks for your time and taking a look.

That is definitely not a '50s body, it has swimming pool route, a modern bridge with the offset, block saddles, and a micro tilt adjustment. At best it is an 80s body. The pots have codes on them too, part of which indicates the date of manufacture.

I'm guessing, from the little that we've seen of hardware, as well as the dates, that this is may be a Strat Plus which someone swapped the FLS's for Texas Specials. One of those pots looks like a TBX. The bridge saddles, and nut suggest that to me as well, as the likelihood that these guitars were originally built in the infant Custom Shop. Stamp in the neck pocket reads "Cuevas". Fender might be able to tag the employee and year associated with that name. The initials maybe 'D. Cuevas'. What about the serial number? There's a slim chance, for that era, that Fender has that production number in their archives. John Page kept a written diary/production log of the guitars they built. I'm gonna give Xhefri a heads up on this one. See what he comes up with.

ZZ Doc is right. It is an early Stratocaster Plus, made Nov 6th 1987. You can read about these guitars here: http://xhefriguitars.com/page2.html This is made from some of the older parts too, as it looks like it is a Fullerton body, the TBX (lower tone control) has the BIG brown striped 82k resister. The color is called Brown Sunburst (color code #32). Someone popped a set of Custom Shop Texas Special pickups in it. The blue dot indicates the neck position on a TX Special. This looks like it has the old screw in bridge posts, which Fender phased out in early 1988, replacing it with a pressed-in brass ferrule with a steel threaded bridge post. I have one just like this in the same color that is in dead mint condition.
