I don't know about you, but I've been noticing an increasing amount of spam posts lately around here. I report them when I see them, but it's been a long time since we've had that issue with that. I wonder if this is related to us having to change our passwords earlier?

The recent changes made it far easier to sign up for the forums, particularly for visitors outside the U.S. - that's good in the sense that it'll allow users who were having issues previously with even signup up to participate an easier path to get in on the action. At the same time, it's bad in that it's also obviously allowing more spam in. Will be putting some additional spam countermeasures in place really soon to help combat this new trend ...

There is spam in the acoustic section I reported 2 days ago and is still there. Apparently Fender is selling boner pills now.

Do you have to contact customer service if they last longer that 4 hours? :P

Fellas I always thought spam posts followed traffic.
More traffic, people visiting the forum. More spam posts.
After all, if I was going to design a spambot. And please dont blame me. I wouldn't want it targeting forums that aren't used.

Spammers and scammers don't make money on page views. They need click-throughs, and the best place to find someone to click through is in forums for newbies. So to me, it's not surprising at all that the Introductions forum has been the hardest hit.

Makes sense. I haven't even looked in that forum section yet.
Be nice if we could re-title that page and fool em into posting there and have the real introductions page called something else
