Hi guys,

I am a naturally curious sort of guy and love details. I am curious if anyone has any info on the names and the codes on the hang tags that usually come with our precious instruments. In particular, I am wondering what the code indicates on the sticker in the upper left corner. I am also curious if anyone knows who any of those initials belong to. Maybe I'll send them a Christmas card. Not a huge deal on the names, but I'd really like to know about that sticker. Part number and serial are obviously no brainers. Thanks for reading!

Someone here will though.
Good luck, it will be interesting to see MGM. :D

As I understand it, it's a production tag used through the production process, such as tracking the guitar through the factory.

It starts out on a sheet of several identical labels which are used through manufacture. The final ones go on the Hang Tag and the Shipping Box.

It's not coded for the guitar type, just inventory control.

Here's the replacement body for my '57 AVRI Ltd. Ed. as it was shaped in the Custom Shop. Notice the same barcode label(s).

cheers!

Thanks, Lightnin MN. I appreciate your reply. A production/inventory "tracking tag" would make perfect sense and I am surprised I didn't consider that in the first place.
