That looks like the sore hand of a brave guitarist. Get better soon, BigV1957.

+1

Take your meds religiously and follow the instructions for physical therapy and you'll be back to bending notes and power chording in no time.

Rawk on!

LET IT HEAL properly and as Arjay said follow up w/ a good rehab. That will give you the best shot at 100% range of motion and strength.

Thank you for the update BigV1957 and the photo. I agree with everyone that you should follow Doctors orders and get well soon. 8)

BigV1957 - was your surgery cutting a tendon? I have trigger finger in the little finger on my fretting hand and my PCP actually recommended that right off. I declined and decided to try a holistic approach. I'm going to try the suggestions of the posters before me. I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery.

Well day two and as to be expected I'm still in considerable pain. Had I known that it would be as painful I may have rethought this whole ordeal. My hands are large a size 14 glove and the Dr. said the tendon was extremely close so that's where the pain comes from. I'll keep you up to date on my progress and at this time no PT or rehabilitation are in the plans . It's good to be retired so I don't have to think about work . Take Care all of you...

My PCP actually recommended severing a tendon. Sending good healing vibes your way.

Almost a week down with 7 more days to go. The pain has subsided , however the one thing that you should remember are the limitations that surgery will place upon you. Simple things particularly if it's you dominant hand become really difficult. Showering only with the help of a significant other, brushing your teeth or hair. There are a lot of things to consider, so make sure to prepare for ALL things. PARTICULARLY GOING TO THE BATHROOM, REMEMBER YOU'LL NEED TO BE WIPED...

Glad to hear you're on the mend, BigV1957. Those are mighty wise words to share. Thanks.

Day 10 and there is no pain. For those that asked , yes they did sever the TENDON in both fingers. If all that is required from this point on is squeezing the ball for rehabilitation this was a God send. Stitches come out Thursday talk to you later...

Glad you're doing better. I have trigger finger too and I asked if they severed your tendon. Will you have full use of your fingers again? My doc is recommending me to do the same thing. Are you happy with it?

Marty, any and all surgeries are only good if you feel better and heal well. The main thing that I will stress is to make sure you have a good support system. The fact that you will be limited in the first 3-4 days but you must still get through the remaining time. Only you know how much pain you are experiencing and you'll know for sure when you reach the point and say "ITS JUST NOT WORTH IT AND TO HELL WITH THIS". MAKE SURE HOU HAVE SOMEONE TO COVER YOUR $@! BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED IT...

Marty, find an Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in fingers. Set a time when all you have is time to devote to yourself and whoever is your caregiver. You're going to need to be cleared with the usual protocols such as EKG, BLOOD WORK and Chest X-ray. And truly if you're in as much pain as I then do it so they can schedule it as soon as possible. Good Luck...
