Hey all,
Anyone ever had any bad strap accidents? I haven't had one in the decades I've been playing (finding something wood to knock on). I hear a lot of hype for strap locks, ect. but I just don't see the need for them. I don't move around that much. And as soon as I hit "submit" the powers that be will probably have a mishap happen to me as quick as possible. Any thoughts?

I've had two in 2 years of playing.

The first was with my old guitar, a G400 (SG copy), but that was mainly due to the guitars heavy neck and me only having a synthetic (read: crappy grip) strap. Suffered a real bad neck dive but luckily because I wear my guitars quite high on my chest (think Tom Morello) the headstock didn't suffer a very bad hit.

The second time was with my current axe, my strat, and I have no idea how it happened but the strap popped out at the rear strap button. Guessing it just wasn't on properly. Luckily I caught it but since then I make sure the straps on well before I start playing :)

I would get strap locks but not being able to undo my strap when it twists would really piss me off, I think :)

I've never had an actual strap mishap, but I've seen one or two and had some close calls. As a safety precaution I have strap locks on all of my Fenders.

All except the Mexican Strat I just got, but that will get 'em eventually too.

My Musicmaster bass is very neck heavy due to the small body size, I put strap locks on that originally because I knew if the strap came off it would fall FAST..

Just piece of mind I guess, and I'll put the same brand on my Mexican so that I have a quick changeout with my Squier Strat.

I had the plastic adjsutment thingy on my strap break while i was using my guitar but was able to grab it before my precious Strat hit the floor.

Straplock user since '89. Good insurance for me - bass player - not a 100 guarantee obviously if the screws came off, but I break toothpick or match stick, add a tiny bit of wood glue, then insert the screw(s). So far no incident since early '89.

I put a big dent in my '71 Mustang many years ago because of a bad strap. Had many close calls over decades of playing with many other guitars. Just this year I bought a set of Dunlop Straploks to try out on one of my Strats.

They rattle a bit so they're kind of noisy! Just unexpected.
