Kindly hope this deadly storm will not make innocent victims. :(

The hurricane had left more than 600.000 persons without electricity despite US officials' calls for evacuation from affected areas.

Matthew is the worst storm after Katrina and Sandy according to government officials.

https://weather.com/storms/hurricane/ne ... es-impacts

It turned into a devastating hurricane once it approached Cuba and Caribbean Sea islands; at least 572 persons were killed in Haiti as the US already mourn the first innocent victim of this deadly storm.

Sources say the Carolinas and Georgia will also be affected this weekend.

I'm lucky to be in SE Palm Beach County, where we only had some Tropical Storm feeder bands hit my area. We never lost power, and sustained no damage from winds, or any tidal surge. A lot better off today, than I was 11 years ago, when we rode out Wilma.

My family and Florida peeps I know offline are on the east coast in St. Petersburg, so it looks like they'll be OK, unless something comes up into the Gulf. That's good you didn't get hit too badly. Sadly, that wasn't the case in Haiti and those places.

You meant the west coast in St. Pete. I did ok in my area on the se coast. The islands did take a direct hit that was just too much for most of them to handle. It's tough to evacuate, when you have no where to evacuate to.

I'm in south Broward right on the coast. It was a real non-event here . . . and I'm glad it was.

You know that's RIGHT! Things could've really gone bad with this one. 8)

Yeah, I got that bass-ackwards. :P Maybe because I'm on the east coast on the Atlantic now and my brain's wires got crossed. Either way, at least anyone here seems to have been unscathed for the moment.

East coast, west coast, what's the difference. It's a coast.
There were probably a good number of folks that could have been in a bad way if this thing went in some different directions. In my area, there are lot of new folks who have moved here since Wilma hit. Some don't have any idea what's the deal with tropical storms, hurricanes, etc.

I've noticed Mike hasn't posted in a couple of days and not at all on this thread.
I hope he's OK.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
